With Weymouth and Aveley effectively down and out, it currently looks like 2 out of the next 7 sides who could join them in Step 3 next season. Slough, Hampton and Bath are probably one win (at most) away from safety. You'd have to fancy Slough and Bath to avoid the trap-door. Hampton, however, have 3 points from the last 30 available and looking at their remaining fixtures you could see a situation in which they acquire no further points.

ETFC. Unless Town steamroll Chippenham, Hemel and Chelmsford, the home fixture against St Albans looks like being an absolute blockbuster - surely a capacity 2,500 crowd?

Salisbury have looked good enough of late to beat the drop. If they can pick up 3 points against Tonbridge on Saturday then you've got to fancy them to reach the mythical 50 points with games against Aveley and Weymouth to come.

St Albans. Saturday's fixture against Farnborough is huge. Anything but 3 points and they will be under massive pressure for the visits of Dorking and Eastbourne. I think they'll probably have enough about them to pick up the points against a depleted Farnborough.

Welling. With their new manager 'bounce' very much in progress and some winnable fixtures, I can see the Wings picking up at least 12 points which would see them up to 48 points.

I sincerely hope you are right but I still think there could be something twists and turns before the end. I’m taking it one match at a time. A decent result on Saturday would go a long way.

29 minutes ago, lovely stuff said:

I have a big worry that we will could finish on level points with one or two of the clubs around us in the league, and suffer because of goal difference. Would be gutting to go down that way. We need to be aware of this

I remain surprised that we've got ourselves into a position to survive. We were down and out several weeks ago. I'm delighted that we have some matches to attend now which actually matter! The first half of the season was nothing short of disastrous. If we now go down as a result of goal difference then so be it. The fact that we might end the season having picked up 1pt per game is no mean feat.

We've certainly got our work cut out. The predicted league has us picking up 1 more point. Chippenham will be tough as they're strong away from home - but on paper is probably the easiest game we have left. Chelmsford will be out for revenge and are pretty strong at home. Hemel have only lost 4 since Allinson took over. St Albans will be a battle. Then we have the easy fixtures away to Wood and home to Worthing. I will be delighted if we pick up 6 more points. At the same time, I fancy Welling, Salisbury and St Albans to get more than 48 points, so that is something of a problem!
