Tonights Results 18th March

Recommended Posts

I would be confident that the bottom two teams, Aveley and Weymouth, are doomed to be relegated.

Next club up, Welling, lost last night as is said above to an injury time penalty, and reading their supporters comments on their forum after the game, are playing as if they expect to go down.

With their managerial disruptions as well, I would expect Welling to go down too.

The last club in the relegation zone is St. Albans, who won at home last night.

This was the first of FIVE successive home league games for them.

Admittedly, the last two in this sequence are against Dorking and Eastbourne, but the next two matches they play afterwards are what could be a crunch game away  v Enfield, and then another home game against middish- table, nothing to play for Hemel.

Their last game is away to Truro.

Also, it's not as though that they have to play any fixtures in an abnormally short period of time, say 5 games in 14 days or less as can happen some seasons.

I would say survival is totally in their own hands, and though I don't seriously expect them to get near to our points total, remembering the way Weymouth got out of relegation trouble at the end of last season from a seemingly impossible position, makes me think 3 points v Enfield on Saturday would be very welcome.

Aveley can't catch us now and unless Weymouth win on Saturday they won't be able to either.

Weymouth could get 54 at present so if we win on Saturday and they lose we'll be 2 points from safety against them.

St Albans could get 57 so, as you say, that's the team we need to watch.

Even more than that we need to focus on continuing to win games so all these calculations quickly become irrelevant.

I'm confident we'll climb the table if anything - but won't reach last year's heights.

The final prediction table has us finishing 17th on 57 points with St Albans saving themselves Relegated  Enfield,Weymouth,Welling and Aveley

That table is nonsense at the start of the season but as the season winds down becomes very accurate.
