A groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance:

New Bradwell St Peter 4-1 Eynesbury United - Spartan South Midland League Division 2
Tuesday night, first against second in the table, both teams going for promotion to Step 6. Since my last visit to New Bradwell for the Christmas derby against Old Bradwell United, the club have been working hard on ground improvements to make the grading requirements that will make them eligible for Division 1 football.
They’re taking it seriously off the pitch - and on it, too. This game was an excellent advertisement for the integrity of lower league football. Both teams, and indeed all the coaching staff, physios and subs, took it seriously, were whole-hearted in their endeavours. It was intensely satisfying.
Defensive errors were the undoing of Eynesbury, New Bradwell having the attacking quality to punish them. The visitors once broke the offside trap to pull it back to 2-1 just before half time, but otherwise were held at arm’s length pretty much throughout. The home side made it 3-1 just a couple of minutes into the second half and from there…I was going to say they coasted home, but the fact is that they worked tirelessly to hold on to and eventually extend their advantage. Compelling drama played out under the lights in the back streets of MK.

A cold evening down at Moulton for their game against Desborough in the Spartan South Midlands Division One. Entry was £7 (cash or card), good amount of parking, bit difficult to do by public transport on a night game, half hour walk to a bus stop to then take you into Northampton. Food wise, there was sausage rolls and pasties available, Moulton have said watch this space for food next season, I wonder what they are going to cook up. These two sides are the highest scoring teams in the League and both have a chance of automatic promotion. Few hoppers here tonight including stags fan Stuart Long, also met a couple others, one I think was called Neil Morris, couldn't remember the other that was with him, I'm sure he will tell me later. The ground itself is caged in with a 3g pitch, a covered seated area and also a covered standing area.
In the first half, Moulton had two very good chances to take the lead but both times the Desborough keeper saved with his legs. Moulton also had an outrageous overhead kick that hit the bar and went over, Desborough only real chance was a shot straight at the Moulton keeper.
In the second half, several more chances came and went, the Desborough keeper saved about 3 more with his legs, the away side then unleashed a dipping long range shot which was superbly turned away by the Moulton keeper. Then the most dramatic moment in the last minute when a foul in the box resulted in a penalty to Desborough, but unfortunately they missed after the Moulton keeper pulled off a great saved, then mayhem in the box and another huge shout for a penalty, this time waved away, some said it was even more of a penalty than the first one, others said great tackle, I'm sitting on the fence. Straight after the full time whistle went with no goals, the result not helping either side.
I wouldn't be surprised if both sides meet again in the play-offs, I did find the volunteers very friendly.
