We all saw what he was trying to do which was not doing what he should have done. Take him off pens for acting like a ....beep....to knock him down a peg or two

Take him off pens?

How long it is since you saw Sam miss his last pen?

He dropped a clanger but he’s scored how many pen’s this season? 7 out of 8? I’m not sure I’d trust many others to take over tbh?

Was just thinking letting someone else have a go might be a way of getting Hutchinson on the pitch and you're all for that.....I wouldn't put money on Sam scoring next pen after making a fool of himself

To be fair to Sam, 8 out of 10 keepers would have dived to the left or right for the penalty. Not many stand still in the hope of a straight shot. The trouble was that even then the chip was too slow and low, giving the keeper a good chance to block with his feet even if he did dive left or right

Penalty shootout against Hornchurch threw up a few possibilities!

He was trying to show off and failed miserably

Don't agree. I was standing behind the goal and it was clear that Sam wasn't confident that the ball would stay still during his run-up (it moved several times when he tried to put it on the non-existent penalty spot). Now quite why that made him think it was the right time for a panenka I don't know, but it definitely affected his thinking.

I would have thought on a sticky pitch like that, the harder you leather it the better, but he's a way better footballer than I ever was. Don't forget he rarely misses from the spot so no need to be overly judgemental. If we get a penalty at Salisbury, I'd still pick Youngs to take it.

Just watched the highlights whilst in Barbados airport. Please don’t compare Sam’s penalty to Panenka’s. Sam’s was a back pass.

I'm still angry when I think about it! If he puts that penalty away its 1-1 with 20 mins left. Anything could've happened at that point. Who'd be a manager?!?
