Hornchurch 3-1 Enfield Town

Recommended Posts

Another week goes by with Gavin sitting on the pot wondering what to do during games….then doing anything too late.

Go to sub…forward off (it’s Chukwu the fall guy at the moment) and Sam Youngs up front.

Why can’t he just try something different? Something off the wall? There was a time second half where there was a momentum shift and something positive may have forced an equaliser - but no, let’s sit there talking about it swapping bits of paper around until they score again.

Wouldn’t be surprised if St Albans nick the last safety spot.

They've got to be odds on now. Just watched the highlights from their win over Aveley - the youngsters they've recruited are coming good, playing attractive football and scoring some crackers. Puts our style of play to shame.

I thought we edged the first half on chances but (once again) only had the one goal to show for it, a bullet of a header from Bailey Brown. I thought he and Mickey Parcell were our two best players on the night, they covered the ground, made some excellent tackles and good forward runs / passes. One piece of skill from Mickey in particular in the second half drew applause from both sets of supporters, a superb double drag back that took him past two Hornchurch players, then beating a third before just failing to slide a pass through to one of our attackers. The Hornchurch equaliser felt like it was coming (and was well taken) but it was preventable, coming from one of the few times Parcell lost the ball in midfield. Unfortunate but we seem to be getting punished for every little error at the moment.

Hornchurch's second goal changed the game and looked completely preventable. We lost concentration straight from the second half kick off and again got punished. Not sure who lapsed at the back, Thompson perhaps, but it was a killer as it meant we had to chase the game. Which we did, in particular a 10-minute strong period of pressure during which we had several chances to draw level, but we just don't seem to have the cutting edge that most other teams in this league do. Good crosses coming in from both wing backs (Leonard on the right, Ollie Knight on the left), surely it is a matter of time before one of our front two get on the end of them.

Hornchurch's Darren McQueen was lightning quick and buried his two chances. If only (sigh). Hisham has an excellent first touch and is quick, he just needs to get that killer finish going. Same for Chukwu who is gaining confidence match by match. It's so frustrating - we seem to be close to scoring quite regularly but for whatever reason it's just not happening. We may be starting to run out of games but all our players gave their all on the pitch - can't fault the level of effort.

Come on Lady Luck, we need you .......

You guys gave us a lot of problems tonight particularly in the first half. I still believe you will stay up. Decent away support as well, like a bit of vocal support. Good luck for the rest of the season

I like Cheshunt too Albury 🤣
