Enfield Town 1-3 Tonbridge Angels

No reason we can't do the double on Tonbridge. It's one of the few 'realistically winnable matches' so need to make it happen. Bad news missing Rhys for a couple of weeks (presumably for enforced concussion protocol) so hoping Joe comes in up for it and can be a reasonable cover. Hornchurch is another 'realistically winnable' Tuesday so we need to get 6pts before Dorking. Hoping for 6pts from the next 3 matches  with any more a brilliant bonus! COYT

Get your team selections and tactics in in advance of 3pm, please. Anyone posting alternative tactics after 90 minutes will be disqualified.

We need more of this humour 👍 🙌  I demand 10 outfield in white and blue and 1 in green with sticky gloves. I'm easily pleased as they'll do their best whoever they are and whatever formation. Oh and I want Gav wearing a trench in his area from his pacing. What will be will be COYT

All the other results were going our way and we can't hold a lead so instead of extending our advantage we drop back into relegation zone

Should be used to it at this point though.. We’ve seen it a lot this season.

I mean, we’ve had a few amazing results over the last month or so I can’t fault the mentality too much but this team when it gets to the latter stages of the game.. Diabolical most of the time.

It’s now 1-3 to Tonbridge, when we should of had the game buried in the first half.

We should be around 7-8 points clear of relegation at this point of the season though.

True but when we were winning we were a point off Salisbury, 2 off Bath and 3 clear of Welling and crucially 7 clear of St Albans.....instead we balls it up as usual....have a feeling that was our chance today and we bottled it. Tonbridge were bottom of form table with only 1 win in 10 but we just gift them another with a couple of crazy minutes, beyond disappointing and back to the same old, normal service is resumed relegation! It's definitely the hope that kills but I fear now with the matches left we are dead and buried!

There are certain things in life I put up with - because the end justifies the means. Things like my wife's cooking and the mother-in-law's annual visit (- both of which keep the wife happy). At this stage in the football season, with heavy pitches, I will put up with 'hoof ball', but only if it yields results. It is painful to watch 90 minutes of long ball football bypassing the midfield. Its even more painful when it leads to a 0-5 loss, followed by a 1-3 home defeat against a Tonbridge side who weren't much to write home about. I'm reminded of the bad old days of Andy Leese. Only one side came out after the break, and it wasn't Town. Today's defeat has most likely sealed our drop back to Step 3. We have to play the likes of Hemel (who drew with Eastbourne today) and Chelmsford (who beat Torquay today), whereas the other relegation-threatened sides have multiple games against each other - from which at least one of them will pick up points.

Gavin's brief spell of luck has deserted him, and with normal service resumed I would like a fresh start next season.

Haven’t been on here in a while but if games were decided by the first goal, I think we’d be in the playoffs by this point!

Decent(?) first half, honestly we had a few chances that could of put the game to bed there and then but in this league if you don’t take your chances you don’t win points!

Dreadful second half, players came out like we’ve already won the game so we can just keep hoofing it and hoofing it. No idea of wanting to play a few passes around and grow themselves back into the game. Leaders like Thompson and Parcell have to read the game better and tell a few of the other lads to slow things down when the game comes on top.

I mean, you’re supposed to be happy when you score the first goal in any game but it’s a reoccurring theme this season that when we go 1-0 up, we seem to lose all focus and it starts to slip and slip away.

I do honestly think staying up is still a big possibility, but Welling still have very hard games in their calendar and I would say St. Albans have the easiest run in of 13 left. But we only have ourselves to blame if we don’t stay up this season.

I agree, we should of buried the game in the first half and obviously this is a big loss to take. But we should be next to Bath/Slough in the league at the moment, not fighting for relegation. Salisbury (H) and Weymouth (A) are looking like the 4 points we’re going to regret not taking come Matchday 46.

Not a lot to add that others haven't - that was an infuriating afternoon. It only looked like there was one side in the game in the first half, and it wouldn't have flattered us to be 3-0 up. We played some decent football too at times, and the front two looked sharp, linking play, winning headers and holding the ball up. We have to take chances against sides in this league, even those that aren't in form, as nothing is guaranteed. We came out second half looking flat, lethargic and short of ideas - if we aren't bang on it, then we are going to get punished, and sure enough that played out. I'd have liked substitutions sooner, just to give us a bit more energy and change the momentum, but really such a disappointing second half after the way the first panned out. The only positive to come out of today was that most sides around us dropped points, but definitely 3 points dropped from the position at half time. We can still stay up, but this has just made it a whole lot harder!
