A groundhopper from another Forum was at Chalk Lane:

Cockfosters 3 Dunstable Town 0
Spartan South Midlands League. Premier Division
I first tried to get to this ground over 25 years ago and it was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and it had eluded me every since. I took the train down to London after seeing a promising weather forecast for the area but after getting drenched walking to Warwick station I was beginning to question my choice. Thankfully the rain eased off after High Wycombe and it was cold and dry in London with only light drizzle until after the match.
Cockfosters play at Chalk Lane which is a couple of minutes walk from the tube station. I liked the ground which has a nice 'homespun' feel to it. Hardstanding on three sides with the far end out of bounds. There is cover from the clubhouse to the halfway line with two rows of seats. There is a small amount of cover behind the goal and there is also cover between the dugouts on the far side of the ground but the only problem with this is that you are between two mouthy managers who spend the whole game moaning at their own players and berating the match officials. I lasted about ten minutes here before moving!!
The game was quite decent with the first half hour evenly matched before Cockfosters took the lead on 39 minutes. They then scored twice within five minutes after the halftime break and when a Dunstable play got sent off for throwing a punch,it was game over. Cockfosters are in second place and look a good bet to get into the divisional play offs. The ground as it stands would probably not be good enough for Step 4 but the club seem to be trying to raise funds for ground improvements.
Admission was ÂŁ5 (codger rate) plus ÂŁ2 for an excellent programme. Pre-match I took advantage of being on the train and visited a couple of GBG listed pubs in the Wood Green area of which the Prince was the best with an excellent selection of beers of which I sampled the Five Points Railway Porter which is excellent.

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Ampthill Park, also see a link to the match programme referred to:

Plan A was a first visit to Benfleet who were playing league leaders Stanway Rovers in the Essex Senior League and with the weather pretty dry for a few days, I hadn’t contemplated a plan B, but a look at Twitter mid morning told me that the pitch at Benfleet had yet again failed the test, so it was a hasty look at what else was on relatively near to London, bearing in mind that I had early evening arrangements.
So, in the end it was a trip up the M1 to Ampthill and the Twitter feed had already warned fans that parking could be tricky with the towns rugby side also at home and with their ground literally opposite. The rugby was starting at 2.00 and as the opponents were the Bedford Blues, the area was packed out when I arrived and I ended up parking about half a mile away.
No IMT here with the Referee starting proceedings over a minute early and the first half was a very good half of football. The visitors took the lead on 20 minutes when Tom Bailey found Aiden Garside who from 12 yards slid the ball past the keeper into the bottom corner of the net. The lead lasted barely two minutes as out of nothing, Mark Bunker sent a 25 yarder that flew over the keepers head into the top left corner. When we got to the break, I thought that firstly there would be more girls and, secondly, it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a red card or two, as things had threatened to boil over at times.
Sadly, the second half wasn’t a patch on the first, and although both keepers needed to make relatively routine saves late on to preserve a point for their team, the match drifted a little to its conclusion.
Eight page programme produced by Ampthill, which was also online and covered the basics and was a good example that you don’t need to produce a glossy 32 pager for it to be sold and to tick the boxes for people like myself.

Saturday 15 February
Division Two
Caddington AFC 0 Eynesbury United 1

Eynesbury United's version of events:

Spartan South Midlands Division 2
Caddington (0) 0 Eynesbury Utd (0) 1 (Ty McLeod)
This bizarre game was won with a bizarre goal on a bizarre pitch in injury time and in a game that was a throwback to the 70s.
Due to Caddington's main pitch being unplayable the game was moved to the next pitch up which to be fair was unplayable but the Officials deemed the ground to be fit and the game got under way.
Caddington certainly had the best of the play early doors and a shot from 25 yards had Martin in the United goal beaten, but thankfully the ball hit the bar and went to safety. Caddington then had a succession of corners, but United defended them well and Caddington could not capitalise.
United then started to grow into the game with the superb Baxter giving the Caddington back four a torrid time and on 26 minutes a great ball through from Brown saw Baxter race clear of the defence, Baxter was just about to shoot when the defender hauled him down from behind. Quite unbelievably the ref waived play on, much to the Bulls shock. On half time Baxter again nearly gave the Bulls the lead. He charged down a clearance from the Caddington keeper and looked like he was going to score but placed the ball into the side netting.
All square at half time and the pitch had turned into a quagmire however the Officials were happy and the game continued.
Again Caddington came out of the blocks quicker but again for all their good play never gave Bulls any issues. The Bulls then made their own chances to take the lead, from a corner a flick on from the impressive Gauge found Jake Wood, but regretfully he got his feet in a tangle and shot wide. Moments later a great through ball from Baxter found Wood race clear, but his shot was saved by the keeper. Time was running out and both teams were trying to play football through the mud, Caddington had their chances through free kicks and corners but Newton and Gauge were quality all afternoon. Into injury time we went and another great free kick from Brown into the box found Gauge again flicking it on, this time Callan Irvine was in the end of it and steered it wide. The Bulls (quite rightly) thought that was probably it but the resulting goal kick found Brown who played the ball to Baxter whose rasping shot was saved by Jachnik in the Caddington goal and then he made a worldly save on the rebound, the defender tried to clear and the ball struck McLeod and headed towards the goal, the keeper slipped as he tried to retrieve the ball but alas couldn’t make it and the ball trickled into the net. Absolute scenes as the Bulls players and management celebrated and shortly after the Ref blew for full time.
A truly unreal game played in unreal conditions with both teams a credit to their respective Club's. The Bulls to a man were superb and skipper Chris Newton was MoM, a huge three points in their promotion push but still 13 cup finals left to play.
