Play offs, anyone ??

Recommended Posts

I'll settle for Conference footy next season, thanks!!

The table looks quite good for us, even though I think we'll be hard pushed to make up too much ground on the teams a place or two above us. However, we're 7 points clear of 3rd from bottom with matches against every team below us (bar Margate) coming up. I think we can safely say Northwich are doomed and we play them at home last game of the season. Nice. Bring on the Canvey!!

One major difference this year compared to last ( and I hope I'm not tempting fate here) - 7 games played against the 6 sides below us - 5 wins and 2 draws..; With 5 games to come against those sides - Farnborough, Northwich & Tamworth at home, Leigh and FGR away - if we maintain our record, we will be safe.

And who knows how well we might do if we get those extra wins we need to make sure of safety, sooner rather than later. 4 more wins are probably all we need and we could achieve that in the next half dozen games. That would give us 7 games with pressure off and the chance (hopefully) to play some decent football and pick up a few more wins.

Would be nice to finish in a position whereby we get the chance to play in the LDV next season, if nothing else.

I have to agree - while our form has been excellent recently, we're not safe yet, particularly with Tamworth and Farnborough also in relatively good form for relegation contenders (6th and 7th in the form table respectively). If we could only make our home form as good as our away form, starting with Hereford on Saturday, I'd be much more confident about our chances of reaching mid-table.

I reckon we'll be all but safe after the next half dozen games - 10 points from those will almost be enough and if we can sort out our home form, that is achievable, even though we have some tough games in that period (notably Aldershot & Shrewsbury away).

The saving grace will always be that we have all those games against other teams towards the bottom in the remainder of the season - can be harder in those games, I know, but if we dont get decent points from those games, we wont deserve to stay up.
