Enfield Town 1-0 Farnborough

Recommended Posts

Easily the lowest level of football I’ve ever seen at National League South level.

Both teams with the exception of Kuhl it was like park football. No wonder it takes a penalty to score literally no one on the pitch capable of creating chance with a piece of skill.

  • Tally Ho changed the title to Enfield Town 1-0 Farnborough

I thought there was enough to suggest it could at least be a partnership…Hutchinson put him in on goal early on and Chuks slid a ball in for Hutchinson to have a shot blocked…

For me Hutchinson spent too long in front of chuks and needed to spend all game behind him on the last man…felt he had the legs on them most of the game but was starting from too deep. Needs to run away from where the ball is not towards it.

Let Youngs and Chukwu do that as neither can run.

Unpopular opinion and you could never leave him out but Youngs is a very poor footballer who has no contribution to the games other than a goal….madness to say, I know and I wouldn’t leave him out but he can get away with being that poor as a forward but to play as a 10 or an attacking midfielder he has to be better. He has one assist all season and I understand that where we’d be without his goals doesn’t bare thinking about but in a better team in this division he wouldn’t get in it.

I thought first half, maybe first 30 we were decent and looked threatening... we worked a clear one v one, which was saved, and hit the post twice (albeit in the same phase). Leonard looked sharp, and generally we were the better side. Second half loads more even, and loads worse in terms of quality, but that suited us fine with a goal lead, and we were happy breaking up play.

Oyenuga a deserved MoM, but Parcell and Hawkins ran him close. Honourable mention to Payne, Brown, Leonard and Stallard (the latter two more so first half) who all put in a fantastic shift. Farnborough very disappointing, and the nice football they played at their place was absent... mainly all about the long throw.

Youngs probably the only one of our forward players that looks like winning a header, he's had better games, but I thought he scrapped and competed as much or more than the two forwards. He is a bit of a luxury player, but if we can keep it defensively tight with this formation, we can afford to play him with two forwards, and he does bring goals.

Agree completely that Hutchinson should be playing beyond Chukwu on the last man, but I'm still not 100% sure what Chukwu brings. Hutchinson's hold up and link play was the better of the two. Hoping these two get a run in the side now, and can find some form and goals... still think we're dead and buried, but how different would things look if we'd won vs Bath and Weymouth? Lots of what ifs...

Chukwu had a good game.

I'll have one of whatever you've been drinking, FC! He had a passable first 15 minutes. After that he was bullied and showed an impressively-poor touch.

Well, the 3 points were never in doubt! 👀

Missing Peake, Thompson, Benjamin, so 3 of our best performers this season not on the pitch. The second half wasn't much fun as we clung on, but it doesn't matter how you do it!

Not sure what I have done to deserve being given the faintest glimmer of hope every 8 games, but they've gone and done it again.

Three points...brilliant...but...

Frankly tedious for most of the 90", especially watching two hugely tall players with no first touch and losing every header!

Still...we take what we can and be grateful eh?

Roll on Aveley and Welling 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

The quality of the game was really poor. To think Farnborough was top of the table around 6 or 7 weeks ago is mental. I mean, it was completely night and day from when we played them at theirs.

Anywho, 3 points is 3 points. Weymouth just thrashed Welling 5-1, and we have a game in hand.

Chukwu is really disappointing. I really liked him at W&F and even Welling this season but something isn’t clicking. I know Welling fans weren’t resounded by his hold up play but he just doesn’t really impress me like I thought he would. I know he’s been in and out of the team and it’s his first time upfront with Hutchinson but I have been disappointed with him.

Sam Youngs surely has to start being mentioned for Team of the Season? The amount of goals he scores, maybe his all around performance(s) aren’t great, but he pops up with more then enough goals to warrant a mention if we stay up?

Really impressed with the young lad Stallard, no clue why he hadn’t been announced as a signing but he stepped up today. Not sure where Thompson was today, I hope he isn’t off somewhere potentially? And I hope Peake comes back soon for a key run of games.

We should have been out of sight by half time.    Thought the new addition had a steady performance.

With 2 up front we still struggled to hold on to the ball in the 2nd and was nervy stuff at the end.    Thought Farnborough were the weakest we ve played all season and offered very little apart from the Bournemouth loanee who looked lively

Our back 3 did well with 2 missing.

What happened to Adam and Lennon?

Great 3 points but lack of scoring probably still a major issue.
