Unfortunate that Lexus & Kweku have confirmed they have left today, but hopefully that releases the playing budget to make the rumoured left back signing.

Not just a left back but maybe at least 1 or 2 center backs on loan for a month until Bayliss and Hollis are back.

We can't go through February without a recognized central defender.

I think the point made by Scott was that he was unwilling to pay a left back more money than the players who've been here for a while.

Scott stated Lexus was our joint top earner. Leon with his recent contract signing I’d guess was the top earner. So with those 2 off the wage bill plus Kweki and I really hope a big chunk of Leon’s fee reinvested, would it wrong not to see 2 or 3 decent signings?

Possibly Leon but what about Goddard who I'm sure wouldn't have come cheap coming from a full time position at B Wood.

And then you've got Ochieng who must be one of the top earners.

I thought it was slightly different RR and actually we had a value of what we thought he was worth and he found he could get more elsewhere. Fair enough I say and 100% right for the club.

Either way, that LB is dead in the water so I'm sure Scott and the team are moving on to find others.

I agree Glen, assuming Leon is going, I'd say we need - LB, CB and 1 CM.

LB - we have needed all season.

CB - Scott has already stated he wants to get the best from Hollis and Baylis in a 3 and with himself wanting to take more of a back seat, and as cover for suspensions and injuries we need 1 more. If we get a LB, then Prosper (I don't like him at CB) could cover this position as well.

CM - possibly to replace Leon but I'm not sure if that's a goer or not and with players like Roth and Spicer I'm sure chomping at the bit to get a chance, perhaps a lower priority or a loan covers that from a squad point of view.

So my order of priority would be LB then CB then CM.

The big issue is where these players are coming from. We go and watch a considerable amount (120+ games per season) all around the non-leagues from Step 2 to Step 6 and there isn't these endless amount of players just sitting there waiting to be signed (forget the logistics and finances as extra challenges).

As i said before, Scott has more than enough contacts around the game (before you consider Yella or anyone else) so if those players are out there, he'll find them, just got to hurry up and wait.

Scott said 'he wasn't willing to pay over the odds than for someone who isn't at the club already'.

And yes the full back said he could get more elsewhere even at a lower level so as you say it's now dead in the water.

As long as he passed his medical last last night Leon has signed a 2 year contract at Southend.

Word is that the other player we've had an approach for is Dan Bayliss.

Apparently the club that made the approach is Chesham.

Money apart why would Bayliss want to sign for Chesham?

Who told you this and were they maybe drunk?! That would be absolutely madness if he left us for them! Is that even a sideways move? Unless they’ve come into massive money and are now throwing around silly money I can’t think of why Dan would even consider it?

More to the point why would Chesham fork out a lot of money to tempt Bayliss when they have very little chance of making the play-offs?

Of course it's a sideways move and pretty obvious that money would be the only motive.

I would like to think he'd turn it down without a second thought but as we know £££ talks.

Why do we always assume that if a player leaves, then his only motivation must be money?

Of course it's a large factor (there's no point in pretending otherwise) but for all we know there could be an issue with him and the club and we need to sell. He may have reason to think that Chesham are a club going places whereas we're a club going nowhere fast. A move may be more convenient for him to commute.

The possibilities are endless; money may not be the only factor involved.

I thought Dan Bayliss was on contract until the end of the season….. so did this ‘word’ heard suggest they had also offered a fee for him?

He is Curtis and that's why when I heard the same thing last night I discounted it immediately. If I was the club and Chesham come knocking for Bayliss, they can have him for £100k. Simple negotiation IMO.

Can't think of any reason why he would think Chesham are going places and we're going nowhere fast.

Played for Bracknell and now Slough and with Chesham being just down the road I can't see travelling being an issue.

I know you can never be 100% sure but as far as we can see from his performances, interviews etc. he seems very happy playing his football at Slough.
