Tonbridge A 25th Jan Away

Tonbridge are 3 points ahead of us but 5 places higher in the table That's how tight mid table is.

Imo this game could return us to winning ways Tonbridge have 4 regulars unfit tomorrow and 3 suspended and their manager has been trying to get some short term cover

Although they have the second highest number of home wins in the league(8) they’ve been poor recently If we can find the effort we showed against Eastbourne and Torquay we can take all the points

Looking at the line up for the game I'm not quite sure how we are setting up today? I see that three players that were allegedly injured 2 start and one make the bench for Tonbridge, maybe this was part of they're game plan. Hoping we can come away with all the points today a much needed win. No news on the new signing and no Hollis again unfortunately

Hollis a bit of a sick note at Farnborough hopefully he won't be the same for us but not a good start for him.

It's worth noting that, although we have a depleted squad, Tonbridge today were missing 4 through injury and another 3 through suspension.

Regardless of how dominant we were in the second half, it's results that count and we're now winless in our last 9; only Weymouth and Weston-Super-Mare have picked up fewer points across their last 10 matches than us, which makes Tuesday's game all the more important.

A few of the injured did play although the manager was reluctant his efforts to get short term cover was not successful

Oh dear.

We look to be in some serious 💩

Both Bayliss and Hollis are out for at least a few weeks and to cap it all some clubs have come in for two of our players with at least one of them leaving this week.

The players i'd say it must be between are Leon, Oggy, Ochieng and Goddard.

With Leon being the obvious prime target.

Shows how much we’re up against in terms of signing players in that we’re struggling to compete with step 3 clubs. Also sounds like alot of our current squad are on very modest wages in comparison to what they could earn at this level. Which in turn means plenty of clubs can come swooping without breaking the bank.

I think that's always been the way but it now seems that clubs lower down with wealthy benefactors can splash out the money.

You've just got to hope that players like playing for us and don't like all the travelling they might have to do just for more money.

Well I guess Ochieng and Leon will be leaving then as they've been 2 of our best players IMO this season, and now we're shorter in defence and can't compete for players, what's gone wrong ? Surely Beeden stays now , time to shine again 🙏,  kweku at Virginia water hopefully means he's getting minutes and not leaving.

That was the first time in 26 games that Tonbridge scored 3 or more.

Tuesday & today we were 2-1 down & went for the equaliser….. sometimes you get it, sometimes you concede a third.

We’re a point better off than if we had just let the matches fizzle out at 2-1.

'Whats gone wrong?'

From day one most of us thought that we were light in defence especially in our left back position.

We got away with it because players were fresh and injuries were minimal.

The squad was light but results were good so there seemed to be no need to rush out and sign players unnecessarily.

It's now at that stage in the season where clubs with the smaller squads will struggle and clubs with the money and bigger squads will get stronger.

We've also got the double whammy whereby clubs at the top pushing for promotion are looking to try and strengthen their squads for the run in leaving us vulnerable to losing players like Leon for more money and the chance to progress his career.

It's also been compounded for us by losing our only two center backs at the same time.

Looking on the positive side we possibly only need around 10 points from 18 games to stay up which surely is achievable.
