Torquay United 21st Jan H

Recommended Posts

Two consecutive home games against the only teams unbeaten at home which contributes a lot to their current high positions. I Like Eastbourne Torquay have been struggling away recently Their last 7 aways have resulted in 2 wins(against Enfield & Salisbury) 1 loss and 4 draws   IMO we should be looking for a point or more.

It won't help that the AA say the journey from Torquay to Slough is almost 200 miles .

I'd be disappointed it we weren't looking for a point or more.

Being a full time club they could possibly travel the night before or set off nice and early in the morning.

I wonder how many fans they'll bring they boast of hundreds and they took 900 to weymouth a few weeks back but that's only 80 miles  Could be the largest away support so far this season

Even though they’re averaging around 3,500 at home I’d be surprised if they brought more than 200 tomorrow. Hopefully an attendance of around 900.

Not sure they'll bring many on a Tuesday night for a journey of around 4 hours.

Also Champions league night which doesn't help.

Being a big name club I'd hope for 1,000+.

Unfortunately this offer may persuade a few not to travel.

It's being shown live on DAZN.

Unfortunately it must have an affect on the away support.

Some of the hardcore supporters who always travel away will possibly turn up but I doubt many others.

And as Rebellier say's some of the ones who live a lot closer hopefully will turn up.

Just read the match day info and an error in the text saying turnstiles will open at 1.30.

I shouldn't think anyone will turn up at this time 😅 but should read as 6.30?

Gutted, I wanted to get my seat early....😂

What a good point to pick up , I was expecting nothing from this game if I'm being totally honest especially when I saw Hollis was missing after his performance on Saturday, although he did take a knock, so maybe not a suprise.  The bench looked light IMO, so I'm guessing Beeden and Kweku have left which is very disappointing. Hoping for 3pts finally at home this Saturday.

what on earth was that ref on tonight some very strange decisions especially in the second half, how is it that their player goes down off the ball while we are in possession and they get a free kick not where the player goes down but where play is stopped, which leads to Torquays second  and just before that he gives torquay a throw in which comes off a torquay players chest and cannot be anything but a slough throw in but is awarded to torquay. very strange

A point against a team that were top at KO now second to Boreham Wood   must be acceptable although Torquay have now drawn 5 of their last 8 aways and I was hoping for more tonight

2 draws against top teams must have restored some confidence You now have to go back 9 games to find our last league win  Hopefully Tonbridge patchy recently will provide the next

Other games gave us no help tonight Cheshams late equaliser leaves us in 14th place.

A very solid performance from the whole team again last night against a team I thought would be much better than they were. IMO - 2 defensive errors cost us in the end from getting a deserved 3 points. The less said about the first goal the better. When are we going to learn to put the ball anywhere rather than no where. At times, row Z is a good option. The 2nd was a strange one as i don't know why we started so high up the pitch when it was obvious that Torquay wanted to get in behind us.

With our 2 goals we looked like the beginning of the season team with the never say die attitude that has been missing a little recently. I think it's nice the Jonny Goddards Mum has sponsored the last 2 games and how Hollis didn't get MoM on Saturday and Bayliss (even before the goal) didn't get it last night is beyond me but that's a minor detail.

Recognised the ref straight away and new we were in for a bad night, he is a poor one in a season of poor ones at the moment.

2 great points against 2 full time teams which we would have bitten your hand off for after Hemel. If we can now put the defensive display against Eastbourne and the goals against Torquay together, Tonbridge better look out on Saturday.

On the topic of the bench, agreed a little light in experience but when you have Hollis, Gilbert, Evans and a new LB missing, that's the great opportunity to get some of the academy lads involved.

It's not that long ago when Trent Phillips (all the love in the world to Trent of course😂) was named in a 4 man subs bench under Neil and Jon so we have taken big strides in that department IMO.

Their first goal imo came about because I think Bayliss should have gone for the ball in the air, as he should always if at all possible, and probably so did Scott so in the end it was just a calamitous cock-up between the two.

No news on this new left back?

Does he actually exist or just keeping his options open looking for the highest bidder, in which case I'd say don't bother and go somewhere else.
