It’s a cruel game (again)

Recommended Posts

First half Chelmsford were definitely the better side, the margin between the sides was nowhere near the gulf of the home fixture though. Second half, with the changes that were made we were easily the better side but got caught with a sucker punch from a breakaway goal against the run of play. Deserved a draw out of that. Ref was average. Their no 2 was walking a tightrope at the end. Did I see two clearances off the line? Big shout out to the away support that was really good well done. Also an excellent coffee from one of the vendors in the ground . If we replicate that second half performance then someone is going to get it. Shame but there you go. A couple of draws and defeats at the bottom Aveley must be concerned that’s 8 games without a win now. COYU

Same old story. Why are we so slow starters? It's only when we appear to be getting desperate that we actually look dangerous committing players and creating chances.

I feel for the squad that Daryl has assembled he should be getting far better performances from it....3 at the really doesn't work.

Special mention to the fans - great numbers again and deserved far more then what was dished up.

Same old story indeed. Why the consistently slow starts?

We prove game in game out, we can play good stuff at this level but it's always when chasing a game.

I expected to struggle while making the step up but feel like we have found a successful formula, only for it to be ignored until it's too late.

And at least there is a worse ground than ours with a running track, although the facilities are far better.

Nothing like sitting in a cold stand watching crap football and that is what the first 45 mins felt like. Wayward passes, losing the ball needlessly and a stroke of luck ricochet led to the first goal.

Second half, different team altogether, battered them if I am honest. But football always deals you a different hand and City made it two from a clearance counter attack and scored a screamer.

The best thing is we never gave up, had a number of chances cleared off the line and a great introduction to Tommy Wood, with a goal on his debut.

That was a hard result to take, considering if we had played like that for the full ninety, it may have be a different result. But that's football and today we left with nothing.

Onwards and upwards
