I would put Riley in for Cooper or Clarke but otherwise seems reasonable.

 

I think you have also demonstrated our weakness as a quarter of that side are out for injury/studies at present and we have not got adequate replacements.

I think the 'best team' issue goes to the heart of our problem at the moment - we've got a lot of good players but we can't play them all in their best positions. Trying to fit in players to positions they're not used to is understandable but frequently doesn't work, whoever's involved. Liverpool have much the same problem at the moment.

 

Whilst very downhearted after yesterday's game the Concord and Romford results should give everybody renewed hope - particularly as we know we've got the right management team to get the best out of the players. They've done it before and I'm confident they can do it again if we all get behind them. For what it's worth, here's my view of our best team from those available at the moment:-

Cooper Clarke

 

Subs Hall Nash Hyatt Quinn Francis

 

If fit and available, Negus, Ridout and Smith would all be in my first eleven, probably at the expense of Baldwin, Riley and Clarke.

Ideally I would pick some invisible players but as we haven't got any (the league won't register them as they can't get a photo on their ID cards) I'll go for:

This is using available players. I would pick Matty when he's fully educated and Rids when the poor old soul is fit again.

 

Clarkey and Billy the Cat hovering around too. Not totally convinced about Geraghty at the moment.

Amazing! The only regular goal scorer we have at the moment.

I didn't leave Billy out - had him hovering just behind the front two. I agree he's the only one scoring at the moment - and would have him up top with Cooper if Lee Smith was available to play just behind them.

Billy the Cat is by far our best player up front at the moment. If Clarkee can get fired-up that may well change but at the moment he has scored 18 goals for Ilford and NONE for us. Billy in my book is a hero.
