Another good post HR.

Must say so good to have Guy back in the Rebel colours has always given his all when on the pitch playing for us Dave and me gave him the nickname of the earth remover no messing about.

After our last three results so good letting in the goals came to a halt and we gained a point from a team at the top.

I did say I’d come off the forum, but I’ll answer a couple of points to give a bit of clarity which I think is fair.

Lexus recently has had personal issues going on which I don’t believe is fair to say post match on an interview that will go far and wide. It’s nothing drastic, he’s okay but he’s told us that he’s not been his normal self. He’s also our joint top earner, on a non contract and travels in from south London which takes just under 2 hours at times.

If you look at the games in which Dan and Lexus have played CB together in a 4, we haven’t won a single game. The analysis that I do compared to your opinions over the course of watching the game live for 90 minutes, there will be a lot of unseen things.

Lexus’ two best games were Tonbridge and Maidenhead at home both as a right back.

With the regards to Bayliss, we’ve spoken at length and he feels much more comfortable in a back 3 as does Guy. Probably worded it wrong, but what I meant is that we get the best out of Bayliss in a back 3 as he has the security to go and attack the ball knowing full well that he has two centre halves inside him.

Our results last season as a back 3 were much better than playing a 4 and it’s something we want to try and get back to. Bringing Guy back was only possible with the outgoings of one or two, hence the decision that we have made as a management team, and hopefully that was backed up with his performance yesterday!

Also, we are hopeful of a left back signing this week, which probably gives even more clarity once again in terms of what the decisions.

Steve, do you know you won the 500 Club monthly draw ?

I'm sure I heard your name read out at half time as the winner.

Nearly £400.

Personally, unless you are living in this country  I don't think you should be entered into it ! 😄

Redraw please !

I never bloomin' win.

I went to the match certain we would lose as we were playing a team who are full-time. I was therefore ecstatic when we went toe-to-toe with them throughout the 90 minutes, and even had more and better chances; it was almost as if a step 2 team, though 4th placed and full-time, weren't light-years ahead of us in terms of ability! (previous paragraph may contain hint of sarcasm! 🤣)

Seriously, I felt we could have won as Eastbourne, though a decent passing team were pretty toothless up front and we had at least 3 good chances to score, the best of them falling to Francis Amartey midway through the first half (I don't know what the problem is, but it just isn't working for him at the moment) for what I can recall was Eastbourne's keeper only real save. Guy Hollis & Scotty both kept the full-time superstars quiet throughout and I don't recall Charlie Horlock having any saves of note to make. I was disappointed that we didn't push on and make the man advantage we had for the last 25 minutes count; I know going a man down can make the remaining players work a bit harder, but you really wouldn't have know they were down to 10 as they did most of the pressing towards the end (though without testing Horlock at all).

For me Guy Hollis, despite a couple of iffy moments was MOTM ahead of Johnny Goddard, whose crosses and corners were pretty poor IMO.

In light of our previous 3 games, there were some encouraging signs. But nonetheless for me this is 2 points dropped; even with the chances we had and the man advantage we didn't do quite enough to win. No wins in our last 7 and down to 14th and (realistically) looking at mid-table obscurity at best (an observation not a complaint, I think we'd all have taken this at the start of the season), but this was yet another opportunity missed.

Our last three matches have all been away, and my match programme buying experience at these games has been pretty dismal.
Boreham Wood are one of those clubs that don't even bother producing a printed version.
Yes, there were lots of "QR codes"  in the ground telling you that you could do a "download"   to get an online version of it on your phone.
I don't have a smartphone, but even if I did I wouldn't bother doing this.
It just ain't the same as a real life, proper printed programme.
Not to me anyway.

On the program bit, going back a number of years I always used to buy an away program but finally came to the conclusion I was paying for some thing that was poor value for money with hardly anything to read but plenty of adverts to look at so I only ever buy our program which is an excellent read.

I read the other day that Weymouth have now gone down the on line program route to save on the costs which is a shame but unfortunately inevitable that clubs are gradually now choosing to go down this route.

Regarding matchday programmes I used to buy them week in week out home and away, but I stopped several years ago as they were building up and simply cluttering my house up; I have several boxes in my loft full of old programmes I'm unlikely to ever pick up and read again (I keep the valuable programmes separate). When I buy programmes, it's usually only for the big matches, or against the big sides.

I absolutely get why people prefer a physical copy (I would certainly want one for the big matches), but on the other hand do who buys a newspaper these days? Or do you simply read the online version (even if behind a paywall)? I remember going to Basingstoke back in 2018 and being told that the programmes have gone online-only, so this has been happening for quite some time.

I think that if the club were to provide an option with the season-tickets (or club memberships as they're now called) or on a game-by-game basis to provide an online copy of the programme, I might be tempted as I miss reading the opinion pages and at the moment they're simply missing out on my programme money.

Great to read your thoughts on these matters Scott.

If you're still reading these  latest posts first of all very many congratulations on becoming a daddy.

Your life is, I imagine going to be soooooooooooo different from now on.

Good Luck!

Just only  being a regular supporter I am acutely aware that there must be so many unknown things to us fans that go on behind the scenes at a football club.

Probably some things I can't even imagine.

Football is a much easier game watching from the side lines.

Your insights today and in the past have been so very welcome.

He certainly does as he commented on it in the radio chat on Mixlr!

Good to get a much needed clean sheet yesterday - our first at home since the 3-0 win against Jerry Gill's Bath in early November - and frustrating that we couldn't take one of our chances late in the second half. Though both Amartey and Spasov took one touch too many before shooting which lead to a narrower angle and felt Spasov should have attempted a shot across goal rather than trying to hit the near post but they certainly looked a lot better than their full time equivalents from Eastbourne, who much like the away game were pretty toothless.

Bamba's pace, when introduced, allowed for the counter attacks from their left and he was giving us a torrid time, but much like most of the game, could not get a clear sight of Horlock's goal, thanks largely in part to a tactical foul from Ochieng which earned him a booking, very much taking one for the team in that instance!

So we now know from his post match interview that Spencer Day didn't want Guy Hollis to leave and was publicly scathing questioning Guy's integrity because he reneged on a gentleman's agreement.

He also said that Guy missed a lot of games through injury, illness and too many holidays.

TBH as long as Guy stays fit, plays as many games as possible and does the business for us I personally don't give a rats arse what Spencer Day thinks 😅

Spencer is a time served criminal who hides behind his mothers maiden name hardly the kind  who can talk about honour

I made the first post on this thread last Monday when I said that it was an ideal opportunity to return to winning ways so I also see it as 2 lost points Last Monday Eastbourne had scored 2 in 5 away games and just 5 from  10 home and away  Yesterday we didn't concede against a team that hasn't been scoring

IMO we'll  need a few more games to believe we've  recovered from our recent very poor run

Eastbourne did score 2 last Tuesday but against a team reduced to 9 and with a further 3 players on a yellow.

Since our victory against Chippenham we've managed just 4 league points out of 21 available I'm not sure minor tinkering will sort it I hope I'm wrong and talented players will start to play as well as we know they can.

Thanks for the clarity Scott and certainly adds a bit to the Lexus situation.

Fingers crossed the LB situation comes off as that'll add balance to the squad that you spoke about a few weeks ago.

We echo the comments previously as well - Congratulations on the birth of your daughter.

First really decent performance in a while against an expensive full time 'basketball' outfit.

Even first half where both sides had a couple of chances to take the lead but failed to capitalize on those chances.

Second half we were the better side especially when they were reduced to 10 men.

Unfortunately again both Amartey and Slavi failed to take the chances that came there way which was the only really disappointing part of our game.

Decent debut from our 'mystery' signing, unfortunately late in the game it was noted that he was limping so we'll have to see if he's fit enough to play on Tuesday.

Strikers apart some good performances all round with Henry Ochieng back to his best and my MOTM.

Nothing announced yet but with Lexus and Lucan omitted from the match day squad they could be the two to make way for our new signing/s.

I said to my other half when I found her as I flew from The Polish Club for KO, it was like 'Land of the Giants' 😂

Big mistake and would be suprised if Lexus left and it feels like he’s being a made a scapegoat for recent results ..he’s a very good defender won’t be short of options

I really like Lexus, no nonsense player imo, my type of lad.

I can only imagine what its like at NLS level and so on, its mad enough at Step 7 with two mens teams in different leagues.

The amount of admin/meetings and yes even seven day approaches and transfers is crazy at our level as well.
