Spencer Day is very upset about Guy leaving saying he renaged on his agreement

Yeah he didn’t look best pleased about the situation! I take it Guy wasn’t on contract but had a gentleman’s agreement to stay the season or similar. Something must have happened for Guy to up and leave like this?

He wasn't getting much game time was he?  Generally assumed to be due to minor injuries but was it something else?

5 more wins (50 pointd) from here and then let's see where we are and what we can do.

Highly unlikely 50 points will be needed to avoid relegation this season with the way the bottom four are performing….. the important stat is probably 16 points above the relegation zone with 20 games remaining.

So we know from his post match interview that Spencer Day didn't want Guy Hollis to leave and was publicly scathing of him questioning Guy's integrity because he reneged on a gentleman's agreement.

He also said that Guy missed a lot of games through injury, illness and too many holidays.

TBH as long as Guy stays fit, plays as many games as possible and does the business for us I personally don't give a rats arse what Spencer Day thinks 😅

Would quite happily have taken a point before a ball was even kicked today, I thought Ochieng and Hollis had good solid games either should have been man of the match IMO, Slavi and Amartey missed some really good chances to grab all 3 points, I am a little disappointed we played 30 mins against 10 men and could not find a way to win at home. Surprised no Beeden today was this due to injury or something else? I think Beeden and Bayliss are a good pairing we just needed another CB as short at the back. Eastbourne bringing in 2 forwards this week and George Alexander on the bench maybe we should get the whole band back together and get Alexander back up front as maybe his minutes are  numbered now, always liked Alexander and he took his chances. Onwards and upwards , bring on Tuesday

The chances were there to win the game against 10 men but you need your strikers to put at least one of them away.

A far as I'm aware Lexus Beeden was not injured.

With a fit Hollis, Bayliss and Scott Davies I think were ok in central defence. If another defender is needed for me it would be a left back.

Personally I wouldn't want Alexander back, not sure his sparkling personality fitted in with the group 😏

The speedy attacking wide players were sacrificed today for the defensive minded Prosper & Jackman, which lead to a fairly dull & uneventful first half.

The match seemed to become more open after the red card on 60 minutes led to Ogbonna coming on for Jackman and what looked like a change of shape on about 70 minutes (?)…… and then Spasov had a couple of chances and Amartey one as well to win it, I think Scott will be disappointed one of those wasn’t finished.

I certainly didn't think the game was dull at any stage.

Agree about Scott being disappointed that Amartey or Slavi didn't put at least one of their chances away.

Tells you everything you need to know about Spencer in 2 parts of the interview:

States in the first line of the interview he doesn't make excuses😂, promptly spends 10 minutes making excuses.

Then later in the interview he states he like in football and life to face things with a smile - now we have been watching his interviews for years, win, lose or draw and i don't think I've ever seen him smile😂😂😂.

Bloke is a clown and no wonder players don't want to stay with him and work for him as would you?

Just to also say, contrast him with Guys comments in his interview and it tells you the metal of the 2 people involved.

Following the post match interview we now know that Lexus Beeden and Kweku Lucan are out of the squad and deciding if they want to go out on loan or leave the club.

Also a bit surprised that we have as many as 11/12 players on a contract.

Losing Lexus just after signing a defensive player is a big error IMO. The only way this works V what Scott said is if either a) is has gone back on what he said last week about wanting to take a step back or b) we have an actual left back coming into the team to replace Lexus.

Lucan - on of those things for him and with the amount of decent attacking options we have, no point t keeping a guy that isn't going to help or be so far down the pecking order he isn't going to get any meaningful playing time.

Big mistake and would be suprised if Lexus left and it feels like he’s being a made a scapegoat for recent results ..he’s a very good defender won’t be short of options

I think Lexus has the potential to be a good defender at this level but for me he still has a lot to learn and he's looked better when going forward in the oppositions half.

Just a few random thoughts about yesterday's game.
First off it was nice to go to a Slough match and buy a proper match programme.
Our last three matches have all been away, and my match programme buying experience at these games has been pretty dismal.
Boreham Wood are one of those clubs that don't even bother producing a printed version.
Yes, there were lots of "QR codes"  in the ground telling you that you could do a "download"   to get an online version of it on your phone.
I don't have a smartphone, but even if I did I wouldn't bother doing this.
It just ain't the same as a real life, proper printed programme.
Not to me anyway.
Kidderminster was better, as least they had a printed match programme.
But even the Kidderminster fans said though that at a price of £3.50, it was very poor value for money.
And as for the effort I bought at Hemel last weekend, I thought it was dire.
£3 for that collection of colour adverts !
What a rip-off.
I'd rather them all just charge 50p or a quid for an A4 sheet folded in the middle with the basic match details, than the meagre or non-existent fare they offered.
At least our home programme has a lot in it that you can actually read.
Walking around the ground yesterday to go to my usual position, I looked at the scoreboard to see what the team was for today.
I was very surprised to see that Guy Hollis's name was shown.
Our club's online reporting department is normally totally on the ball, but when I left home about 90 minutes before kick-off, I saw no details at all on our website with this news.
I knew Guy signing  was a possibility, but assumed something had gone amiss in the discussions, and there was no news to bring us.
( I suppose we fans get spoiled in this era of modern technology, when every snippet of news is fed to us very close to as and when it happens.)
I read in the programme that Scott had become a father during the week.
Many congratulations to him and his wife on Millie coming into the world, but again I would have thought this was something that might have been put out somewhere on the club website/twiitterx days ago, especially as we all were aware Scott was very close to becoming a daddy.
It's always nice to hear good news, so I'm guessing there must  be some straightforward reason as to why this two stories weren't published earlier ?
As for the game yesterday, I arrived at the ground hoping ( but not greatly expecting ) we could get a point against a full-time team doing very well at the moment.
I thought Guy had a very promising (third) debut for us.
We looked a lot more secure at the back, and half time arrived  with a 0-0 score line, but  I was more than happy at the improved defensive display.
There was a strange incident during that half.
One of the Eastbourne defenders came charging over to the touchline to win the ball, but his momentum carried him over the touchline and his foot became stuck between the edge of the pitch and underneath the black railings.
He couldn't move from there for what seemed like 15-20 seconds, which doesn't seem a lot but it did at the time, as the game was still carrying on as the ball hadn't gone out of play.
I wonder what would have happened if we had somehow managed to score in that brief window ?
Second half we played well, especially after Eastbourne were reduced to 10 men.
What a fantastic effort from Scott.
So nearly another near the  halfway line goal.
The ref blew his whistle it seemed to me after the goalie had just managed to palm the effort away.
Had Scott shot while the ball was moving ?
I hope it was for that reason that play was called back, as I can't think of any other sensible reason for doing so.
Francis had a great chance to score near the end.
Was it during the TEN minutes of time added on at the end of the game ?
He did so well running from near the half way line, outpacing the Eastbourne defender, but with his last controlling touch of the ball inside the area had too heavy a touch which lost him his chance.
And how did Slavi miss that last gasp header ?
It seemed easy to score from the side lines, (it always does! 😄 ), but like I've seen even many a Premiership player striker do in a similar situation, the net didn't bulge and Eastbourne escaped with a draw by the skin of their teeth.
I was very happy with a point from the game though, and seeing  a much improved defensive display.
Listening to Scott's after match interview, I was extremely disappointed to hear that Lexus might be leaving us.
I think Lexus has a lot to offer, and was surprised to see that he wasn't even on the bench yesterday.
Scott knows more of the behind the scenes going on's than us of course, and if he thinks this is best for the team then so be it.
I'll still be disappointed if Lexus goes though.
I was also surprised to hear Scott say " Dan Bayliss is probably not a centre-half in a (back) four at the moment."
I'm sure Scott would be able to explain in great detail exactly what he means, but am I showing my footballing ignorance in that I don't  exactly concur with that idea ?
I naively thought that Dan and Lexus would make a great centre back pairing, but once again it seems I'm wrong ! 😄
Anyway, Torquay at home on Tuesday.
Another toughie.
Could it be tougher ?
At least I'll be going to this game more optimistic than I did to the one yesterday,  as at least yesterday we played a much more sensible defensive game than in the previous three.
COYR !

On the program bit, going back a number of years I always used to buy an away program but finally came to the conclusion I was paying for some thing that was poor value for money with hardly anything to read but plenty of adverts to look at so I only ever buy our program which is an excellent read.

I read the other day that Weymouth have now gone down the on line program route to save on the costs which is a shame but unfortunately inevitable that clubs are gradually now choosing to go down this route.

On the Guy Hollis announcement bit, I was also surprised that the club didn't announce it earlier to get fans a bit excited about his 3rd return to the club. Maybe Scott wanted to surprise the opposition which seems to have failed as the Eastbourne manager said in his post match interview they knew all about Guy Hollis signing and his long throw would cause them trouble.

On the game itself, after listening to their manager and players post match interviews I think I must have watched a different game. Both said they deserved to win and even after going down to 10 men they thought they were the better side.

On the Dan Bayliss comment, I picked up on that as well and still don't really understand what Scott meant by Bayliss not being a center back in a back 4.

I’m also very surprised about the Lexus Beeden situation.

He’s been a regular, starting 20 of are 26 league matches and some of those missed I think were due to injury or suspension.

I didn’t see the three poor away losses, did he play badly in the first two of those? Even so, when he was left out for the next match against Hemel we still conceded 4.

And I’m confused about him being predominantly a right back, and us already having Jackman & Prosper for that position, I thought Beeden had played well this season when being the right sided centre back in a back three with Bayliss & Scott (or am I mistaken?).

Whilst we seem to be talking about surprises, I was also surprised yesterday to see that Eastbourne had been allowed to have two people set up in the walkway at the back of the main stand….. one that was filming the game (which isn’t unusual) but the second one was analysing the match, apparently speaking constantly to someone on the Eastbourne coaching staff communicating various tactical match information, and even sending video clips of moments in the match within moments of them happening.

I have never come across this in non league football, has anybody else? It almost felt like a form of cheating but apparently it is permitted. But can the Club prevent facilitation of this, in a similar way to which Boreham Wood prevent radio commentary?

We can only assume that Scott doesn't think that Lexus is good enough to be one of our central defenders.

Scott did say earlier in the season that Lexus is still raw and in his opinion a year behind Bayliss in his ability to defend at this level.

On the signing of Guy Hollis, hopefully this will shore up our defence but he does now seem prone to picking up injuries etc so with Lexus currently out of the frame there must be another defender on the way or it does seem a bit of a pointless move.

Guy was limping towards the end of the game and said he's got a bang on his knee, hopefully this won't keep him out of Tuesdays encounter with Torquay.
