v Hemel

I don't think anybody is really surprised that we are no longer in a promotion picture (though maybe a little disappointed). We look relatively safe at the moment, but this is mostly down to our good start; our form over the past couple of months has been quite poor. To make matters worse, our performances are now also poor, whatever was getting us over the line in the early weeks of the season has long since deserted us. Our last 10 league matches is P10 W2 D3 L 5 (with no wins in our last 6); not time for panic-stations just yet, but keep this up and we could soon be in trouble.

It's also worth noting that Hemel went from top of the table after they beat us in September to one place above the drop zone yesterday, having lost 13 of their 16 league matches and winning only once in this time. Yet they still managed to brush us aside with ease. Of course we didn't have a divine right to win, but this is alarming to say the least.

RR, you said on the Boreham Wood thread that you didn't think they were anything special, so why is that fact that we ended up getting tonked now no great surprise?

We should be going into any game at this level thinking that if we play to our strengths and give a good account of ourselves, then even if we're the underdogs a win is not totally out of the question. However there seems to be a pervasive attitude that if we're playing full-time opposition, or a team with some money (which'll be most teams) then a win is indeed impossible (or at least highly improbable); it's almost as if we've got imposter syndrome, and we feel that we don't really belong at this level.

I'm staggered at how this seems to be an acceptable way to approach games from many of us; talk about how to lose a match before a ball is kicked!

I don't think they were anything special but if we keep making mistakes against any team we play we'll struggle to get any sort of result regardless if they're a full time money bags team or not.

'Pervasive attitude' when playing bigger full time clubs? is that the players, supporters or both?

Guy Hollis.

Excellent player for us over the years but when last with us I don't think he was the same player he was in previous seasons.

He left to go to Havant, Bracknell, Farnham and Farnborough, not begrudging him doing it but he was obviously chasing the money and wouldn't come cheap trying to prise him away from Farnborough.

Also he does seem to have become a bit injury prone in his advancing years.

If he is one of the players coming in I'll obviously be supporting him and hoping he proves me totally wrong.

Last thing we need is an ageing sicknote!

I didn’t see what the line up was for the match today, were there any clues on who might be leaving us?

And any guesses about who the new centre-back (who is familiar to the club) is likely to be?

Certainly Kweku Lucan always seems to be on the bench and Sam Evans came off injured.

Francis Amartey started the game and scored from an excellent cross but other than that did very little.

The clues are there 😅

Supporters; I would certainly hope not the players (though it may explain our dip in form).

Maybe pervasive is too strong a word, but I've seen these things cited several times on Facebook, X, Rebels Radio comments etc.

The entire side should hang their heads in shame and apologise after that performance.

Very weird way to think football should operate, as if the team owe you a season without bad games.

They weren't good. You (rightly or more likely wrongly) call them an embarrassment and other insults.  If that isn't making you feel satisfied and you still feel like you're needing an apology, maybe a change in approach from you?

I 100% expect the team to have bad games, but to take accountability when they do.

You didn't think as a Slough supporter that performance was embarrassing? Especially after some of the quality performances we have put in this season?

I am looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully a change in performance and ultimately results, but the team are very quick to sing and celebrate and be positive with the fans when they win, they need to be equally accepting and apologetic when they don't live up to the levels they have produced.

Once again Josh, you can't have a plaudits and praise when things go well and not have the criticism and negatives when they don't. No where on my comment does it say that I expect no bad games in a season, because I don't.

According to Scott, you went at the team in the changing room afterwards so you must have done that for a reason no? You must have seen something beyond a bad game and some individual errors to react like that as surely you don't expect the team to perform well week in week out?

Bottom line is that performance was rubbish and should be treated as such. I am sure that you, Scott and the team will show a reaction tomorrow and moving forwards which I'm looking forward to (much as you all did following Tonbridge last year).

Why do you assume that the poster is actually Josh Jackman?
