Maidstone United 4-0 Enfield Town

Maidstone hasn’t lost in the league in 18. That was the last time they lost at home also. A 1-5 loss to Chelmsford.

Going to be a really tricky test, and I’m not hoping for much. But it’d be nice just to see some fight and effort off the back of Saturday. Maybe we can nick a point if we start implementing 2 strikers in our plans. Maybe another signing on Friday if we’re lucky

Should be a good crowd aswell.

I’ll stay optimistic and go 2-2.

Kaunda won't get a sniff of the ball for the 70 minutes he'll be on the pitch.

Agreed

When Gavin said “we fought off another NLS side to get him it told me all I need to know.

we can only offer 1 thing and one thing only that any other club in our league can’t…..that’s a guarantee that he plays every week.

With one up front that screws everyone inc Kaunda who needs someone showing alongside him.

Take smith off now and go two up front.

at the moment Smith hasn’t touched it. Youngs hasn’t touched it and Kaunda hasn’t touched it.

Youngs can’t get in the box cos we can’t get in their half so he has nothing to run onto.

Kaunda can’t cope on his own and can only make one run which is easy to snuff out and any average pass doesn’t reach him or goes where he wasn’t.

It’s so f-ing clear it’s beyond belief.

I know I've retired but it obvious to me ,from what I read, Gavin hasn't heard of Danny Blanchflower's famous remark on TV interview at N Irelands world cup adventure in I think c1964. " We aim to equalise before they score ". ie. knowing their ability we go on the attack from the start with the hope that we may score first which may put them of their stride.

Now I'll go back to sleep!!!!!!

I'm not really arguing either way for 2 up front or a packed midfield, but in my view, away to a well funded and bang in form Maidstone is probably a case of us losing regardless of the formation and tactics. I don't think 2 forwards is some magic bullet to make us competitive.

Is it damage limitation, or should we be looking to get something from the game?

I would prefer us to treat these games like cup matches given our predicament - mainly because the St Albans game demonstrates that we really can't bank on securing points against the other sides at the bottom.

Even if you write this game off as a game for nothing use it as an opportunity to get a system in place for games you can win.

Its defeatist and demoralizing. For everyone.

There's as strong an argument for me of keeping it compact, frustrating them and maybe nicking something as there is playing more attacking players. Probably the same outcome either way... even a goal down, we're in the game and you never know. Obviously like us to be more positive if it remains 1-0 deeper in to the 2nd half.
