As games go this was a story of two half’s for the Bulls, but the end goal of three points was achieved.

MKCFA arrived at Hall Road in the lower reaches of the table, which is weird as they are a good side that plays good football. United though set about MK from the start and should have been ahead within a minute, great work from Baxter and Meeds found Sammy Routs but his effort was cleared off the line. Though Sammy was unlucky with that effort, moments later he worried the MK defender enough to see the player head a great ball in from King over his keepers head to give the Bulls the lead.

Minutes later it was 2-0 when a corner was not cleared and the ball found its way to the far post and Chris Newton was there to tap home. Two up and playing some good football, not allowing the youngsters to settle. And again another great ball from King found Owen Meeds at the far post, his acrobatic reach found the ball going across the box, only for the defender to turn it in to his own goal. Three up and the game settled down with MK coming into the game, but for all their possession they failed to put a noteworthy effort on target, and in injury time of the first half another corner caused issues for the MK defence and Conor Lee smashed the ball past the keeper to give the Bulls a 4-0 half time lead.

The second half saw MKCFC come out with a lot more purpose than the first, and again lots of possession was had, but again they created very little until the 67th minute, when a great corner in, flicked off Brad Brown’s head and nestled in the net for an own goal, the third of the match.

The game finished with both sides huffing and puffing, but United saw it through and picked up three big points - which leaves them in 4th going into 2025. Next Saturday is our Hunts Cup Semi Final against Peterborough Rangers, this is at Hall Road with a 1.30pm kick off.

A driech afternoon in MK it may have been, but a crowd of 340 were in attendance for the V6 Derby between unbeaten New Bradwell St Peter and near neighbours Old Bradwell United. Having spent some years rather in the doldrums, a resurgent New Bradwell are now chasing promotion back to Step 6, while Old Bradwell - following several years of local dominance - may not be the force they were, but still are difficult, resilient opponents.
Goalless first half, few clear chances, NBSP arguably slightly the better side, but after a quiet opening to the second period OB seized the advantage when an attack down the right ended with an unstoppable blaster into the roof of the home net.
The visitors were looking defensively solid and appeared to be set up to see out the rest of the game, but within 10 minutes New Bradwell drew level, a low cross converted via a close-range finish. Moments later came the decider, a howler by the Old Bradwell keeper who came out of his area but misjudged a bouncing ball, allowing the hosts’ tireless striker to finish into an empty net. NBSP return to the top of the table, level on points with Totternhoe but with a superior goal difference and three games in hand.
Afterwards the Biergarten in downtown Wolverton beckoned, for welcome and warming Belgian beer.
