Worthing 1-0 Enfield Town

Tally Ho

Worthing away is always a game to look at when the calendars get released. I would say there is a bit of animosity between the two sides and there’s always a lot of goals in this fixture aswell. I imagine a lot of fans next week will make the journey to Brighton.

Honestly, not expecting a lot from this game. I’d be very happy with 5 out of a possible 9 points in these away games but if we lose and it’s 4/9, I’m still over the moon.

Worthing’s manager last week said Faal and Nicky Wheeler are injured, but they started against St Albans. Hopefully it was a nagging injury and one of them miss out.

Prediction: Optimistic as always, I’ll go a 2-3 win. Attendance will be around 1,500.

Can’t be there today but hoping we can continue our form and bring home at least a point - a tough ask .. the bookies have us as more likely to lose 0-4 than to win 1-0!

Hope Mo has a quiet game ..

as said above we would have taken 4 from 9 so let’s go with confidence ..

I was reminded that on 19 Dec it was my 37 year anniversary of my first Enfield fc game - and it was 4-2 v Worthing!!

  • Tally Ho changed the title to Worthing 1-0 Enfield Town

That’s about as bleak as it’s going to get this season, or we have seen it get this season. Wasn’t expecting that to win as Worthing have been ahead of us for quite a while now but that performance does sting.

Good news is St Albans conceded a last minute winner, and Weymouth only got a point. Bad news is Bath are now 7 points clear again after beating Aveley 3-0. I am fearing we might of started picking up too late in the season.

Onto Boxing Day though.

Was anyone expecting anything from this game? We're playing a very good side away from home, and we've gone 90 minutes still in the game (you never know what might happen if you are just a goal down - see Weston). We've come through 3 really tough away games with a win, a draw and a loss so I say well done to the management and the team. Other results could have been more favourable today, and we've clearly left ourselves with a huge task to get out of trouble, but let's judge us on our performances against those around us, not the likes of Worthing.

We're in a position where we need to keep picking up points on our travels. 7 points adrift is a real problem. Make no bones about it, the team probably need to find the kind of form which would've got us in/near the play-offs over the course of entire season if we are to stand a chance. So yes, I was hoping for something from this game - just as I will do for the away games at Maidstone, Boreham Wood and Slough etc.
