Eynesbury United v The 61 FC (Luton) (kick off 2.00pm)

Eynesbury United are hell bent on finally getting promotion to Step six this time around and are currently well placed to finish in the top five of Division Two having disappointingly missed out in the last three campaigns:

Confirmation that this affair at Cotlandswick is a 2.00pm start as Full Time states 3.00pm, a school boy error as Karen used to say, God rest her soul:

A groundhopper from another Forum was at the King George V Playing Fields, also see Stony Stratford Town's match report:

https://www.stonystratfordtownfc.com/Matchreport.aspx?id=773911

Sarratt 0-2 Stony Stratford Town - Spartan South Midlands League Division 2
A trip from MK down to posh rural Herts, necessitating a chug through Hemel Hempstead before plunging into back lanes which finally emerge out onto the wide expanse of Sarratt Village Green. The Church has some quietly magnificent Arts & Crafts stained glass, visited on a couple of previous occasions, but this time it’s straight to the ground for a 2pm start. Long winter shadows stretch across the pitch, red kites circle overhead.
The game itself is forgettable, Stony glancing in a free kick to go 1-0 up at half time, finally scrambling in the decider in injury time right at the end. Sarratt had two disallowed for offside and hit the bar on two further occasions, so will no doubt feel aggrieved not to get anything from the game, but ultimately the hosts didn’t quite have the attacking quality required to create chances they were able to take.

Eynesbury United's comprehensive match report:

Spartan South Midlands Division Two
Eynesbury Utd (2) 5 The 61 FC (0) 0 (Gauge, Baxter, Irvine, Brown, Parratt), Att: 55
A man of the match performance and the opening goal saw Joe Gauge celebrate his birthday in style. His headed goal after three minutes set United on their way and saw them move up to fourth in the Division Two table.
This game could have easily been a banana skin for the Bulls against a side who had lost all their previous league games but two quick fire goals in the first seven minutes saw them on their way to three points. The first came after good early pressure which 61 FC struggled to deal with - this led to a corner and Gauge rose the highest to head home. A great start which soon got better when Ryan Baxter spotted the 61 FC keeper away from his near post and drove the ball through the gap. Two up and the Bulls were in full flow - however they took their foot of the gas and allowed 61 FC to close any meaningful attacks down, it seemed as if we started a shoot on site tactic and went away from playing the team game that put us two up. Though saying this, Brown, Baxter, Meeds and Routs all had good chances to extend the score but poor finishing saw the score remain at 2-0 at the break.
The second half started no better, though United were dominating the possession, Brad Brown was dictating the midfield and it was no surprise when his ball wide found Baxter who drove at the 61 FC defence, his ball into the centre found Callan Irvine who tapped home. This settled United and they then stepped up their game. A fourth was soon on the cards when a smart move saw a ball squared in to the box and Brad Brown strode onto the ball and buried it past the 61 FC keeper. Four soon became five when Baxter who tormented the away sides defence all afternoon played the ball to Parratt, who jinked one way and then the other and sent a rasping shot past the keeper. 5-0 and that was it .. three big points before Christmas - regretfully Wednesday nights away game at Milton Keynes Irish College Football Academy has been postponed due to the home side having issues with their floodlights, however we will play them (Milton Keynes College Football Academy) on Saturday 28th December at Hall Road. The first game in the New Year is on Saturday 4th January when we entertain Peterborough FC in the Hunts Intermediate Cup Semi-Finals, kick off 1.30pm.
