How do we see this tie going, Tring Athletic have reached the Fourth Round of the competition on just three previous occasions, can it be four:

It won't be an an easy tie for Harpenden Town at Eastern Counties League Premier Division Dereham Town:

The draw for the Fourth Round of the competition was made earlier today that sees Harpenden Town travel to AFC Whyteleafe, London Lions visit Spelthorne Sports or Egham Town and Tring Athletic make the trip to Tunbridge Wells or Crawley Down Gatwick should, of course, they win their re-arranged Third Round ties next Saturday:

A little premature but let's get ready to rumble for Harpenden Town's tie at Eastern Counties League Premier Division Dereham Town, surprisingly the Club had never gone beyond the Second Round previously since first entering the competition in 1975/76:

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Rowley Lane on Saturday to witness London Lions emphatic win over Eastern Counties League Premier Division Great Yarmouth Town:

FA Vase 3rd Round
London Lions 5 Great Yarmouth Town 0
Adm - £8. Prog - Apparently given out free on entry although I didn’t get one. Att - 90-100?

Lions scored in the 2nd minute and were in control the whole match. Yarmouth had a couple of efforts, however they were very much 2nd best. 5-0 was a bit of a harsh score line, however Yarmouth had pretty much given up at 3-0. I hadn’t heard of Lions until a couple of weeks ago, however on this showing they could go far in to the competition.
The ground is in Arkley on the edge of Barnet, although I walked the 1.8 miles from Elstree and Borehamwood station. It’s a nice setup with a few practise pitches. The main pitch itself is pretty basic but has a decent stand, more than adequate for what they usually get (20-30). It makes you wonder how they can sustain running a Club (especially one that decent) at Step 5.
I was accompanied by a ground hopper from Crawley on the walk back to the station and we had a very pleasant conversation about all things non league and ground hopping. Day was spoiled slightly at Kings X whilst attempting to board the Ely train by some gammon who managed to take my shoe off at the heel as he was so close and couldn’t even be bothered to stop to see if I was ok and said I shouldn’t “dawdle!” That was then I completely lost it and let rip with a load of expletives at him in a very loud voice and had to be calmed down by another passenger. I hate people at times.

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Aldiss Park on Saturday to witness Harpenden Town's disappointing FA Vase exit to Eastern Counties League Premier Division Dereham Town:

Dereham Town 2 Harpenden Town 2 (DT won 7-6 on pens)
FA Vase Third Round
Aldiss Park, Admission 8 pounds, Programme 2 quid, Attendance - tbc (looked like around 200 or so)
First visit of the season to Aldiss Park, for various reasons most recently an accident blocking the A47 deterred me from attempting to get to League Cup tie v Kirkley & Pakefield. Neither side's recent form suggested that they would be favourites to win.
The first half provided little to suggest a likely winner either with the only real chance coming in added time when the HT cross bar was rattled. The second half was far more entertaining, DT going ahead after 54 minutes with what I'd give as an own goal but credited to Rhys Logan but without the defenders headed touch the HT keeper would have no doubt not been troubled. This however did bring the game to life, HT back level 6 minutes later Danny Webb the scorer. Logan restored DT's lead on 69 minutes before Webb levelled things up again after 79 minutes.
Thus, onto penalties and all of the first 5 scored, though the 4th looked like it had failed after hitting the bar but rebounded into the roof of the net. DT put away the 7th to make it 4-2 and now HT couldn't afford to miss which they didn't but DT's fifth was missed and following HT's being scored we were into sudden death at 4-4. After 5 successful kicks it was 7-6 to DT before the worst penalty of the afternoon sailed over the bar giving DT an away tie at AFC Whyteleafe in the Fourth Round.
Watched the game with norwich6 who I'd also spent some time with at Sloughbottom parkrun in the morning.

I see that London Lions will travel to Egham Town's Runnymede Stadium (pictured) in the Fourth Round of the FA Vase on Saturday 11 January, Egham Town beat Spelthorne Sports 5-0 in their delayed Third Round tie and sit in second place in the very competitive Combined Counties League Premier Division North, one point behind former, and 'rejuvenated', SSML Club Amersham Town with a game in hand.
