...and I do tend to agree that the sheer amount of hand-wringing and negativity that goes on here when we lose is a bit over the top - did anyone realistically expect us to get anything from this game? Torquay are at a completely different level to us, and if I was told it would have been 1-4 before the game, I'd have shrugged and said 'on to the next one'. The only possible way that we're going to get out of this is to win games against the 8 or so teams at the bottom of the table, who aren't full time professional, and aren't miles better than us. It's still a massive ask, especially when you consider the head start we've given them, and seemingly a lack of confidence in the squad, but we've got to cling on to some hope, right? Even if not, let's enjoy those away days still, and try to back the team as much as possible.

Oh, and I'm not convinced that Towningaround isn't somehow connected to Hutchinson, or at least is in a position that's closer to the squad than most contributors on here, but he talks a lot of sense, and knows football based on his posts, so more than happy to have him contributing 👍

I agree with you Barney, for the most part. If you told me before the game it was going to be 1-4 I wouldn’t of cared and just enjoyed the day and the intake of money must of been very good.

The main part where it frustrates me with Torquay and performances of such this season is we are more then capable of reaching levels above where we are right now. The first 30 minutes, understandably you couldn’t make the game but we was doing all the little things right and going toe to toe with a former football league side. Farnborough, about the same 30 minutes, Chippenham, Chesham, Hemel, Torquay away, more I’m missing obviously but my point is we have had constant amazing spells in these games and we’ve left with 0 points. How do you expect to stay up like that? Sure, surviving is somewhat beating teams around you aswell, but it’s clear to me there’s a lack of concentration throughout the squad that is becoming apparent and it cannot continue.

Would be interesting to know where people expected us to finish this season.     Think there s a few who think we d be much higher than we currently are.

Anyone here know how many teams in NLS are actually part time like us?

I wasn’t expecting anything like Hornchurch’s season, as obviously they are quite a bit wealthier then we are. I would say I was in a range of 18-20th.

Part time teams in the NLS I would imagine around 17 to 18. Boreham Wood, Torquay, Maidstone and Dorking I imagine are all full-time with clubs like Eastbourne and Chelmsford being worth a mention. Maybe a few others that I’m not thinking of too. So we’re definitely in the majority of part time clubs.
