I did wonder whether Christian was actually injured. That explains a lot. Not the first time a youngster will have made that kind of misjudgement. Hopefully he learns from it - and Gavin doesn't hold it against him.

Re Jake: Gavin has clearly decided he's down the pecking order. I did appreciate the effort he put in when he came on last night - there's absolutely no criticism there. Shakpoke does not seem to be the answer as a lone striker, so perhaps we need to try him with Jake?

I don't want to be part of a "Gav Out" movement, but I wonder what the long-term plan is? Does Gavin get a free shot at this season, retaining his job even if we're relegated? Is the expectation that he would then have to get us into the Isthmian play-offs next season? Surely the long-term plan had to be re-evaluated as soon as we secured promotion in the first season?

I don’t see Gavin getting sacked this year or next to be honest. Promotion to the NLS in his first season with us was an impressive feat whether not Wyllie played a massive part in that. I think if he has us challenging again for promotion or the playoffs next year if we do get relegated to Isthmian he’ll be safe within his job.

Shakpoke needs to take a long look at himself for the way he played yesterday and then not to come up to the fans after was disgraceful. We don’t need players that think their bigger then the club in such a tough time for all people involved. Show a bit of effort and courage and score goals when needed and us fans will love you.

Edit: The long term plan I think will be reevaluated from what goes on here till the final day of the season. If we are fighting for survival all season, I think he’ll be fine for next season unless he walks on his own. If we drop off and we are comfortably relegated by February or March then the board will have a difficult choice to make. That’s what I’ll say on the matter until we know more about how this season will finish.

Fixtures till the end of January 2025:

ETFC v Torquay United
Tonbridge v ETFC

WSM v ETFC
Worthing v ETFC
ETFC v Boreham Wood

St Albans v ETFC
ETFC v Chelmsford
Maidstone v ETFC
ETFC v Bath
Weymouth v ETFC
ETFC v Eastbourne

I think we need to win 5 of the next 11 fixtures (indicated in GREEN!) (which will take us up to 26pts from 29 games) in order to stand any chance of staying up.

Weirder things have happened. Could argue a point at Maidstone, Boreham Wood are also in the realm of possibility.

But then Weymouth have picked up recently - plus I'm being very optimistic in thinking that we can beat Eastbourne who currently sit 4th! St Albans will probably have a new manager by the time we play them too.

Got to pray and hope things don’t click. Eastbourne are a long shot but another home fixture I wouldn’t be shocked we won. Bath also currently have no manager so you just have to pray some things don’t click for these teams above us. Weymouth don’t worry me at-all. I think all home fixtures are possible to win if we really get our head down and stop making games impossible because of our own mistakes

Just to put things in perspective. We could've been Gloucester fans away at Walton & Hersham on Saturday watching this happen in the opening minutes...

(Although they did come back from 4-0 down to claim a point!!)

According to the Predicted Final League Table (https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/national-league-south/league-table/predicted) we're only going to pick up a further 7 points from the remaining 28 games - and we still won't finish bottom!

Interesting website - and they have all the predicted results of every single fixture. Our next lot of points should come against Bath in January!

Edit: It also says we are predicted to score 2 goals and concede 11 in those 9 games until Bath. I know we’re struggling upfront but that’s surely a bit harsh🤣

Are you sure that's right? I'd probably take conceding 11 in 9 if you offered it to me! Are they saying we'll lose 7 games 0-1 and 2 games 1-2? Have they not looked at our goals against tally this season? :D

I’m really confused on how they’ve got such numbers but I’ll entertain it for comedy reasons.

0-1 loss to Torquay, 1-0 loss to Tonbridge, 3-0 loss to Weston-super-Mare, 1-0 loss to Worthing.

Then, a 0-1 loss to Boreham Wood on boxing day, another 1-0 loss to St Albans on NYD, A 1-2 loss to Chelmsford, another 1-0 loss to Maidstone then we finally win 1-0 to Bath at home! We are not predicted to get another win after this though unfortunately.

So that’s 11 goals conceded in 9 and two goals scored! And yet we’re still not predicted to finish bottom, that’s Weymouth apparently! 🤣

Edit: Their quote on how they predict it - “Below you will see the predicted results for the remainder of the season, along with the percentage likelihood of the match resulting in a 'home' win, a 'draw' or an 'away' win. The predictions are re-calculated after every goal is scored!”
