Sadly the fixture at Bell Close has been postponed, there's nothing worse than producing a match programme for a postponed fixture:

Saturday 23 November
Premier Division
Shefford Town & Campton 0 London Lions 2

A groundhopper from another Forum was at this affair:

Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division
Shefford Town & Campton 0-2 London Lions
Admission £8, no paper, Att: 19 (H/C)

I hadn't anticipated being at this one, I imagined Letchworth or Hitchin would be my only viable options but, with a surprisingly easy and prompt getaway from Stevenage, I was on the motorway by 1430, with Google Maps predicting a further 20 minutes to this one. As both Hitchin and Letchworth have much better public transport options, it made sense to take advantage of having the car, and tick this one off.
All very modern, with a new housing development on the approach and a smart looking clubhouse in which to shelter from the elements upon arrival. The staff were busy putting up Christmas decorations.
The hosts, having escaped relegation by one place last season, find themselves rock bottom of the table this time around, with only two points to their name. Coupled with foul weather, it was perhaps unsurprising that the good folk of Shefford (or indeed Campton) had little appetite to venture along today. In fact, at kick off, I counted only 8 spectators, though some late arrivals swelled the headcount to 19. For their part, Lions moved up to third place with this win, albeit still some distance behind the top two.
With heavy rain, and wind blowing into the faces of those in the stand and covered standing, particularly after the interval, most people chose to shelter under the marquee outside the Clubhouse, but you had to be careful of sudden deluges from the canopy.
No shortage of effort from the hosts, but they lacked quality and were far too "nice" at times, trying to keep their feet rather than go down under challenges.
Both goals came in the first half, firstly on 17 minutes when the home team got into all sorts of trouble trying to play out from a goal kick. They were dispossessed and, though the keeper was able to block the initial shot with his legs, number 8 fired the rebound into the empty net. The second goal came on 30 minutes when an overhit cross from the right was retrieved by the Lions left winger, who returned the ball into the centre, where number 9 touched it in from close range.
Heavy rain for the whole journey back, which took around two hours.

Saturday 23 November
Division Two
Eynesbury United 1 Bovingdon 3

Eynesbury United were clearly disappointed with this home defeat to Bovingdon:

Spartan South Midlands Division 2
Eynesbury Utd (0) 1 Bovingdon (1) 3 (Ryan Baxter)
The habit of conceding late goals again cost United valuable points in a game they should of least got a point from.
On a windy afternoon, a good crowd braved the elements to see if the Bulls could continue on their upward path up the table, but were undone by a controversial second then great third goal.
United won the toss and kicked with the strong wind, but for the first fifteen minutes struggled to find the right passing range with the elements. And with their very first attack, Hemmington found himself all alone at the far post and scored past Martin in the Bulls goal.
One down so early has not happened at all this season and the Bulls had to react. And this they did, when they finally got their act together. It really should have been level on 21 minutes when great work by Baxter saw him square the ball into the six yard box, Archie Palmer met it sweetly but Fallon made a great save. That then seemed to become the theme of the afternoon with the Bovingdon keeper somehow keeping the Bulls out. A shout for a penalty was then ruled away, and a great corner from Brown went straight through the six yard area, with nobody able to get on the end of it. Lewis King from the other side was putting great balls into the box, but again good goalkeeping and defending kept United at Bay. Callan Irvine then hit a great shot from far out but with the keeper rooted it hit the post, and went safe.
One down at half time and United though one down, were buoyant. And this attitude paid dividends early in the send half. A great ball from Brown saw Baxter race clear of the Bovingdon defence, he turned the defender inside out and slotted past Fallon. Game level - and United then went on to dominate the game, but could not find that all important second goal. Baxter hit a great free kick that hit the post, and then he hit a rocket from 25 yards which Fallon pushed away. Conor Lee fed fellow centre half Joe Gauge who advanced into the penalty area, but his shot was again charged down by Fallon. And in this league if you do not put teams away you tend to pay. A ball over the top caught United napping, however the Bovingdon player was at least a couple of yards offside, but regretfully for United the linesman was behind the play and failed to flag and Meeds went on to foul the Bovingdon player. McCarthy hit the free kick, Martin made the save, but Smith followed up the rebound to give Bovingdon the lead in the 90th minute. A real blow to United, but as stated earlier, you need to take your chances. United then went all out to try and get the point, but a magical goal from McCartney finished their hopes off and Bovingdon took home the three points. Disappointing, but The Bulls are still up there. On Tuesday the have the chance to put things back on track when they travel to MK Irish Reserves - 7:45pm kick off, a big response needed. MOM was Lewis King, great display from a young player, who just seems to get better.
