Maidenhead United

It's a bit steep IMO, but as a club and a business, I get it. Supply and demand and an opportunity to earn some extra money. We all want the club to progress both on and off the pitch and these types of financial decisions will allow that to keep happening. For those not wanting to pay for parking, there are other options local enough to walk to the ground as well so that's people's choice. In addition, perhaps the £5 charge will call into question people buying golden goals, 50/50s and programmes for the day as those with budgets for football might not be able to stretch that out (especially with Christmas around the corner). Gamble by the club, but one I understand.

Oh dear.

Just looked at the supporters trust site and there's a very angry person on there.

He's bought a seat for the season because his Wife has MS and needs a seat and is now being told by the club that they are not guaranteed a seat.

He's threatening to ask for a refund and not buy a season ticket next season.

Just to add the club are not charging for seating so why have it on a first come first served basis?

There are people who have purchased a seat for the season for medical/health reasons so why not have it as per a normal match day that reserved seating remains in force to guarantee a seat for those that need one.

Absolute rip off. So the cost of an FA Trophy game for an over 60 against Chatham was £8

Against Maidenhead it has jumped to £17, a massive increase.

£5 to park and £5 for a pint of cooking  lager in the cramped Rebels bar.

I am sure there are plenty of mugs who will pay, but not for me.

And that is a beauty of consumer choice WR.

Could I suggest that watching Langley would be a better option for you. They play at Honeycroft, for concessions it's £4 and you get a programme and hot drink included in that price as well.

I’m pretty sure you realise that the £8 for 60+ on the app was an error for the Chatham match, we all know and it’s clearly marked on the gate that concessions are 65+.

And I would be surprised if you are not  aware that our usual adult gate price is £17 & Maidenhead’s is £20….. so where is there any justification for the clubs to agree a price of less than £17 for the match?

And on parking, I paid £50 for the league match parking season ticket (although I think many get in each week without paying) & parking in Slough & walking 10 minutes would probably cost you £5 for 3-4 hours parking anyway.

So, where is the rip off?

I think for many it’s a big match that’s been looked forward to for many years, it’s a shame you will be missing it.

Fine if you’re a ground hopper, not so great if you are a Slough Town fan.

So in theory the supporters who got in cheaply by mistake for the Chatham game owe the club some money?

On the parking bit most supporters have a choice on how to get to the game if they drive and don't want to pay the £5.

Alternatively get to the ground early and park for free at Lynch Hill.

Facilities at the ground have improved greatly, although they are not always appreciated, and further improvements are planned which all costs money.

The entry costs are normal match day costs so wheres the rip off?

The only thing I will say is the club need to re think the seating situation.

There are supporters who pay for a seat because for medical/health reasons they need to sit down.

The club either need to leave seating as per a normal match day or make provisions for those who for health reasons need a seat.

I'm Slough through and through Curtis, just wanted to give WR an alternative from a cost point of view ;). Perhaps he could become Windsor Langley or Windsor Virginia Water or Windsor Burnham😂

Must admit it is very disappointing to hear all the moaning going on about this game on the prices for entrance and parking for this game.

we get game the supporters have been crying out for and are still not happy wonder what the management must be thinking they are doing their best for this game improving the ground, sponsorships, helping Scott to get the players he requires to stay in the playoff positions.

I do hope the club give assistance to the season ticket holders with medical issues they deserve ìt.

I always applaud our superb supporters who go to all the away games and give their all to help the team I did not go to Chippenham game my nearest N/S club the last three home games two of them I stayed over nìght at the Moxy and Prem Inn spending £360 to watch the Rebels as I get fed up driving back to Swindon with ongoing nightìme M4 roadworks, all games over last two seasons have been worth every penny watching Scott.s superb team.

So come on get behind the team stop the moaning we want to go further.

Good post SD.

Just to add there's only been one moan about the entrance price and that was debunked as being incorrect.

The last time we played Maidenhead in a competitive game (other than B&B Cup)  was back in 2001 (23 years ago). I would hazard a guess

that anyone under the age of  35 would not view this as the game that the supporters are crying out for as they would never have seen

us play them. They were our main rivals years ago but not these days. The only rivalry is the distance between the two towns

I make you about right WR.

Only the older brigade will know and appreciate what the rivalry was like in those day's.

Similar to Wycombe no longer rivals now but in years gone by they were our arch enemies.

You can tell which generation of supporter I am by the following statement …

To this day I still get a little flutter in my heart if I see Wycombe have lost, and if Martin O’Neill is doing punditry on tv I immediately switch channels 🤣

I think we have played Maidenhead United 213 times (Wycombe 154, Windsor & Eton 154).

That is more frequently than some of the biggest local derbies in English football…… Tottenham v Arsenal 210.

A quick look at the excellent Historical Archive on the website, it seems that having been regular opponents throughout the 1940's, 50's & 60's, we last played each other (as regular opponents I mean) in 1974. Since then our only competitive matches (outside the Mickey Mouse cups) have both come in the year 2000/01.

Tottenham & Arsenal play each other at least twice a season year in year out, and have done so almost every year (the exception being the 1977/78 season) since 1950.

Possibly place Windsor & Eton into that category too.

Alongside Aylesbury United, Hayes and Dagenham & Redbridge etc. Who here deems these to still be rivals? Rivalries need fixtures, or people will eventually move on.

Hopefully next Saturday can be the start, as I think we're sorely missing out on a proper local rivalry (one that actually gets the blood pumping, the type of fixture we look out for when the fixture list is released). Farnborough and Hampton may be local but neither do this for me.
