Home to Hornchurch - FA Trophy 2nd Round (Won on Penalties)

Recommended Posts

More new signings, some much needed depth attacking wise with Ruben Shapoke and Fionn Mooney. Really like these two signings as they look hungry to prove themselves after leaving their academies.

Unfortunately, Harry Ottoway has left the club due to him most likely being sidelined with his broken toe for a long period of time but wish him all the best and hopefully a speedy recovery as he did try his best at 36.

All in all, don’t know much about these players but we’ve been very good with signings recently and they add experience and depth. Gives us more of an attacking threat off the bench too. Just hope they add more of those needed goals we have been crying out for.

Perfect time this week to try some new signings in my opinion and see what they are about before we go off to Dorking. Would obviously like to progress far in a cup competition and get a bit of extra budget, if not then we only have the league to focus on.

If we are competitive v Hornchurch tomorrow then I’ll feel a lot better about chances of survival this season.

Hopefully the two new signings will bring a bit more pace to the front line. But above all a few more goals.

After all the young players who came in for England this week certainly brought a new perspective to the side. It will also make those who were unavailable realise they are not all indispensable.

That is why I have always supported the view that young players have to be encouraged to join the club rather than those with long cv's.  The latter are often recognised , by some, as evidence of having experience. However, raw talent can surpass those with a history of having been with many clubs. However, the former are more often open and willing to learn.

I would much rather hungry younger players at this moment in time. I feel like a lot of old/seasoned veterans who have scored or played for L2/NL don’t really have the passion like they used to, especially if they feel they aren’t getting what they want or their ego gets in the way. Saying that, I think Adam Thompson is a great character for everyone at the club and on the pitch he acts like it. Always very vocal on set pieces/dead balls and he can become a real role model for this group. And I also think he could play anywhere on the pitch at this level he is that good. Looks so comfortable on the ball all the time.

Our younger loanees have looked like a different class week in week out so I think these two signings can be on the same trajectory.
