Hanwell Town (Away) - Middlesex Senior Cup 2nd Round

It baffles me how it has all gone quite so spectacularly wrong so quickly. The wheels have well and truly come off and I'm not quite sure how Gavin goes about putting them back on. He can't throw money at the problem - because we haven't got any. He has admitted how difficult he has found it to recruit players this season. And now there can be absolutely no doubt that we are plumbing new depths. Can't help thinking we need some new energy, fresh ideas etc. Gavin will certainly get the rest of the season, but can he reinvigorate a new squad next season?

Depends how badly it gets this season, or how good this season gets. By the end of December we should have a rough idea on how our chances fair at survival.

Most of the important players in our squad are leaving if we get relegated anyway so we’re going to have to get a new core anyways. And I honestly do think we’ll struggle next season if we get relegated. We’re going to have to build up again and that can take 5-10 years. Most fans are going to go back into hiding and gates are going to fall so we’ll be in a constant rut of a limited budget and hope we scout an amazing player.

The way I see it we need a top striker to save our season, a L2/.NL/NLS/NLN proven 20+ goal a season striker to work with what we have the way Marcus did last season. We need enough money to cover the £1k plus a week that would require. How do we get that money? Is there a business that would sponsor such a player? Can we request it from members/fans? How can we get the money and fast? Gav has been getting in decent loans but these all cost money and even a loanee of the calibre we need is going to cost plenty, clubs don't always just want the experience we can provide of mens football. I'm sure finances will be the main barrier but I don't know how we sort that!

Euromillions jackpot on Friday currently stands at £127m. Problem solved - might even have a few quid left over for a couple more seats for the new stand.

I wonder how much we offered Thompson to come play for us or maybe he came to us on the cheap cos he missed football that much after his injuries. Either way, we offered Mo Faal a good chunk of money and he obviously went to Worthing so maybe it’s less of finances and more of we’re struggling to attract people? Obviously budget restrictions are quite a known and documented thing between us fans but I’m guessing we’re going to start losing out on ticket sales when some fans stop coming because we aren’t doing too pretty in the league.

I’m thinking there will be a couple more on Saturday because it’s Hornchurch although it could be less because it’s an FA Trophy game.

But, what they say is class is permanent so honestly i’ll take anyone at any age to go upfront as long as they can put a goal in a net. maybe Jakey Cass will cut his Dubai trip short to help us out.

Surely we're not that desperate! 😂

You’d be surprised 😂

To be honest if we had Adam Cunnington, Jake Cass or a big target man I think we’d be doing a lot better. If we had an extra man occupying a defender or two I think we’d look much better attacking.
