Maidstone 1 Hx 0

cup of tea

Not too disappointed to be honest as Maidstone were one of the better sides we’ve faced this season. They got off to a quick start and got the goal in quickly. Thought we were 2-0 down straight afterwards but the offside flag saved us. We definitely had our moments in the match particularly second half but didn’t create too many clear cut chances. Maidstone definitely had a strength advantage over us and definitely used that to their advantage, their nos 2 and 4 were swallowing up any high balls coming in, we were far more dangerous playing the ball on the ground. At 1-0 you always think you have a chance but we ran out of time. Great effort from the guys, Will single out Liam for his work rate but all worked well. Difficult game out of the way, their position in the league is false and I suspect they will be moving up the league real soon. Coyu

If it wasn't for our superb goalkeeper and Maidstones inability to take their chances, that could of easily been 5 or 6 nil. The only players worth any credit today were Terry, Scott, Wraight and Nash. (And Ade from the bench)

As far as I can remember we had one shot on target which was McQueen from outside the box.

Long balls up to an ineffective Femi against 6ft 6inches centre backs was never gonna work.

I thought overall we were pretty poor

Interesting. First half i thought Maidstone were excellent and we were lucky to be only one nil down. I thought we struggled with the bounce and pace of the pitch hence the three yellow cards. Second half we tried but it was just not our day in that final third. As a team I thought we were excellent in defence and Mason made some fabulous saves. Ref made some very poor decisions and obviously has connections to Kent, as in, we got nothing, yet Maidstone got everything! Nice ground.

The ref made some strange decisions and I hate playing on artificial pitches it definitely has an impact on our ability to pass and control the ball.
Wraighty, Nashy and Scott solid and hard working. Ade made an impact when he came on and the sooner he is fit to start the better.
Hopefully NBC isn’t far off starting again soon, reckon he could have done a job up top against there defenders at least he would have made them think about what they were doing!
The 4 and 2 were big and strong but I do think they were sloppy and more pressure on them could have created an opening.

On the plus side I was home in less than 10mins!
