v Bath City

Recommended Posts

League positions will be meaningless in what promises to be an entertaining and fiery encounter.

We had a really tough game on Saturday whilst Bath will be fresh having had the weekend off.

Looking at our current squad we still have 7 players at the club who played last season.

Jackman, Bayliss, Davies, Prosper, Oggy, Leon and Slavi.

Would be nice to get the 3pts against Bath tomorrow evening, considering a certain managers antics last season, will be a tough game again but hopefully we can get this one over the line , I don't believe for one minute Baths position is a true indication of where they'll end up come end of season. COYR!

Just like a few other clubs Bath have got injuries to some key players.

Once they return they will climb the table.

An excellent result tonight….. & another great free kick from Scott.

Yes a great result   Other results tonight leave us still eighth and out of the play off zone but we have a game in hand over Dorking Wanderers currently holding the last play off place.

The first half was a re-run of what's been happening of late whereby we had all of the play up to the final third but then lacked that cutting edge/finish to kill the game off.

Second half we were a different proposition, still dominant in most areas of the pitch but looking a real threat in the final third.

A comfortable win in the end with a 3-0 scoreline being the least we deserved for an excellent performance on the night.

Well, I thought we needed (and deserved) that 3-0 victory last night.

15 games played, 25 points.

About halfway to the 50 points we'd probably need to stay in this division.

For me, obviously the sooner we get to the 50 point mark the better, but it's only when that is achieved that I'd seriously look at where we are and then think about  possible play off position aspirations.

That outlook might be a bit boring to some on here, but that's my view of things.

Looking at the "Results and Fixtures" page in last night's match programme, I thought it stood out to me how few "L" 's for losses there were in our results column.

Yes, we've drawn a few recently, but coming away from a match with a point is of course much better than getting beaten, and I think our results show just how difficult we are  to defeat.

Two tough league matches coming up, but I won't be moaning or complaining if we lose them both and slip a bit down the table.

Like I said, get to the 50 point mark and then see where we are in relation to everybody else.

Reading the Bath City F.C. match report of last night's game, it doesn't exactly give us much credit for beating them 3-0.

It says "the final scoreline somewhat flattered the home side".

I didn't think so.

I thought Bath were very "powder-puff" up front.

It says about our third goal  "a corner saw Harvey Wiles-Richards appear to divert the ball into his own net, although Beeden took the congratulations for the goal".

If I'm wrong I'll hold my hand up, but I thought Lexus made a clean connection on the ball ?

Their report does mention though Scotty's reaction after his free kick, " a goal he celebrated with a shushing gesture directed at the City bench".

I hadn't realised this at the time , as this wasn't apparent from where I was standing.

I'd have enjoyed the goal even more if I had been aware of this gesture at the time !

At least one of the Bath fans has a sense of humour, or at least he did before the game kicked off last night.

There is a page in the match programme where a  fan supporting the team we are playing that day answers questions about them and their club.

Last night the Bath fan was asked "Why did you start supporting City ?"

He replied "My dad took me in 1998 and I've unfortunately been a fan ever since."

To the question "What's one rule you would change in football" he replied " All abandoned matches should be replayed, regardless of hamstrings. "

And finally when asked for his prediction for last night's match he said " 4-4 with City coming back after Slough go 4-0 up in the first half."

Well I found them funny, anyway.

I always watch the Bracknell fan "Mattitude" and his  vlog's about Bracknell's matches on Youtube.

Last night Bracknell didn't have a match, so he turned up at Arbour Park to watch our match v Bath.

Below is his excellent(  I think ) report on our game yesterday.

Always nice to get a neutral view on events.

Definitely well worth a watch.

He loves our bin's !

No post match interview from Jerald on X yet

Suggestion that he may have been upset/harrassed. " When I left the ground Slough supporters were still heckling him loudly"

On Baths YouTube channel now. Was given today as opposed to last night and I think Jerry is either smoking something or more stupid than people think. If he is manager at the end of the season, there is a good chance Bath are the next Havant or Dartford IMO.

Some might disagree but I was pleased to see everyone blank the weasel at full time, no one shook his hand. He feeds off attention and ignoring him is the best policy. I’m all for respect in football but sometimes you need to treat people as they deserve.

Good, solid performance from us overall. I don’t disagree with Scott as MOTM, his best performance of the seeaon, but special mention for Lexus and Henry too. I thought they were excellent.

For Jerry Gill to say the game was 'quite a tight affair and wasn't a 3-0 game' is simply ridiculous.

It can only be said in an attempt at self preservation.
