It was announced 866 but the website has it as 861? An acceptable crowd I’d say and if can keep in and around the play offs hopefully we can maintain at least a 900+ average.

Not good enough for Curtis.

He thinks we can easily average 1,000+

Any idea what the attendance was for our home match against Truro was last season?

With our budget and squad size we probably are in a false position.

We've had a good start to the season which is probably why we've not brought in a left back, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Also playing attacking football especially at home with 3 at the back means we've managed without a left back.

Again whilst we've got cover in the center back position why spend money bringing someone in?

It all boils down to how we're performing, so far so good.

Also I'm sure the club would love to reach the play-offs on a shoestring but imo our priority, whilst we are spending money on the facilities, is to just stay in this division and then plan for next season.

I'm just concerned that our approach is we are ok....now...but what happens when it catches up with us , I am in no way expecting play offs with our budget/numbers just want to make sure we don't sleep walk into a relegation fight

For me it's simple, we need 28 more points first and foremost to get to 50 and that should see us safe. In a perfect world we would finish on a better points total and at least 1 place higher than  last season to continue to show progress BUT another decent season and being mid table or higher would be fine IMO.

When you look at Havant, Dartford and Dover last year and the way Weymouth, St Albans and Bath have started this year, establishing ourselves as a strong side at this level for now, whilst the club is building off the pitch must be the number 1 priority, as we can see how easily these "big" sides can struggle.

I don’t know our budget but an educated guess would place us bottom third. We’re nearly a third of the season through and we’re 8th, so we really can’t complain as we’re still ahead of target. Realistically we don’t have the squad depth to mount a play off challenge as it’ll only take one or two key players out and we could struggle for results. So for me, finishing around mid table, increasing our crowds towards 1,000 and improving AP/revenue streams would be satisfactory for me.

Decent result which we would probably have taken at the start of the game given the oppo.

Cagey game in which both teams largely cancelled each other out and very few clear cut  chances.

Their number 9 blocked the ball on the line with two hands during the goal mouth scramble in the first half. I had a great angle and the assistant must have seen.

I can only think they gave a foul against us earlier in the incident but another day that would have been a penalty and a red card which would obviously have changed the game.

This could have gone either way so I feel a draw was a fair result against a well organised and talented side, though our equaliser was fortuitous as it came from a scuffed cross that the ref inexplicitly gave a corner for! Until then we'd hadn't seriously tested their keeper.

I wasn't convinced by the decision to award Gilbert MOTM; Bayliss would have been my choice as he barely put a foot wrong all match, whereas Gilbert had a decent game but was also very wasteful when shooting. And then he got sent off mere seconds after MOTM was announced!

As Irishadrian rightly says though it's now 1 win from 8 league games, which isn't obviously good form (though Hemel and Tonbridge also appear to be in freefall after excellent starts). With the early-season excitement of being top now over, is it time to evaluate our expectations for the season?

I think this is wishful thinking Irishadrian 😉; I don't know what it is about this forum, but I have a 2+ hour drive home and I often get home and log in here only to find that no-one's (or very few people have) posted, even after good results.

I think our expectations for this season will be the same as when the season started.

Aim for a play-off place with the minimum requirement being to remain in this division.

Couldn't agree more Glen.

Isn’t this our 7th season in this division?

If so, is this our level & should we be content at this level? Or is there a stage at which we should feel established & be looking to challenge each season rather than be looking to avoid relegation?

I think at the moment Curtis, this is our level, but then I'm sure Dartford and Havant thought the same last year. Only takes a bad run and complacency to set in and you never know where you could end up. Taunton started the season on fire last year and look where they ended up.

I think there is massive potential for Slough moving forwards but if you listen to Mark White and the lessons he learnt from being in the National League probably too quickly, I want us to build our way there in the right way by the off the field work and foundations being put in place so we don't get promoted too soon.
