Took the train to this one, with a brief stop at the Little R'ale House, the microest of micro pubs, adjacent to Wellingborough station, from where it's a walk of 25 minutes or so to the ground. Town and Whitworth were both at home this evening, but I opted for the latter game, as a few other hoppers had indicated their likely presence. Letchworth was home to me for a short period in the early 90s but if they had a team at the time it was at a very low level, and I certainly never visited.
A reasonable set up for Step 6, with cover of various sorts on all four sides, and a reasonable, if small, clubhouse replacing one that had been destroyed by arsonists a little over a decade ago.
On the pitch, the game pitted 11th v 12th, though the Flourmen have two games in hand. The first half was dreadful - as dire as anything I've seen so far this season, but thankfully it picked up after the interval.
The visitors went ahead on 52 minutes. A ball to the back post seemed more hopeful than anything, but Baranowski got.on the end of it to score.
15 minutes later it was all square. Guedu, who had been guilty of wasting the hosts' best chances of the first half, finally found the back of the net. And that looked to be that until the visitors were awarded a stoppage time penalty, which Smith converted, though the keeper got a hand to it.
