The whole Windsor/Slough merger idea

Perhaps you should practice what you preach about the reporting of facts, Mr Thomas. The gossip and posts on the forum from Windsor fans came in the wake of Dennis Greene's conversation with my reporter, Andy Stiff, about the possible merger. The report and first team picked by Andy was driven out of the idea of Greene's initial outburst and had been the talking point among some fans of both clubs.

As for reports without crediting, indeed these were taken at times of need with the permission of Chris Boxall. There has been an agreement with regard to the using of pictures by the Slough Town site taken by Observer photographers for some while. Unless I am looking in the wrong place, I have yet to see a credit to the Observer for these.

The coverage of Slough Town since I took over as sports editor has increased considerably. I may be biased, but I feel your opinion about being 'slack' is slightly unfounded. Of course, why not write to the newspaper outlining your criticism of me personally and I'll consider printing it in full.

As for matches, there are personal reasons behind this, though I hope to return to action on matchdays as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have a freelance reporter working for us.

OK Mr C, fair comments. I'm sure Chris will be adding the credits for the Observer pics at the same time you add the credit for our reports!!

Having said that, not all of our pictures are from yourselves we have taken an increasing number for ourselves and hopefully next year will have enough of a catalogue to 'go on our own' for these.

We'll see. Keep the coverage up between yourself and Andy.

I had noticed that the Rebels had been given greater coverage than previously. Indeed, in the last few weeks I don't think we could have realistically expected any more space to be devoted to STFC news (as there are other teams in the district!).

This ought to be good publicity for the club, so I guess we should offer some thanks for your assistance in raising the club's profile.

I agree, I have noticed that whearas before, STFC would get half a page or maybe one, we're now getting two on a regular basis plus the back page (and whatever news there is on Windsor) So well done to all involved for helping to raise the club's profile.

Definitely.

I think the whole 'dream team' thing was just a case of "Help, entire sports progamme rained off, what are we going to do?".

I was very surprised to see it - not really 'news', eh? (Especially as the forum had given the topic a good thrashing previously).

Oh well, they say there is no such thing as bad publicity...

Not buying the Observer every week (for some reason they dont sell it in my local Brighton newsagents) i can't comment on the whole season, but the past couple of weeks when we've had 'home' games i've bought it and thought the coverage was pretty extensive. And who cares if they nick stuf from the website - isn't it good they are keeping in touch?

But what happened to the non league papers coverage of the trust launch - or did i miss it?
