FA Vase Second Qualifying Round
Ampthill Town v British Airways

Coincidentally Ampthill Town travelled to then Combined Counties League Division One British Airways in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round during the 2022/23 campaign, losing 3-1 (see photographs) so will be looking for sweet revenge at Ampthill Park this afternoon against the now Combined Counties League Premier Division North visitors:

Long Buckby AFC have reached the Fifth Round of the competition on two previous occasions, in 2009/10 and 2010/11, however that's unlikely this season:

FA Vase Second Qualifying Round
Buckingham FC 0 Brook House 3

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Stratford Fields:

Buckingham 0 Brook House 3
FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round
Stratford Fields
Admission: £6 incl. free programme, Attendance: 86 h/c

Ended up an easy win for the visitors, quite an even first half but obvious Buckingham lacked a finisher whilst Brook House had a few players willing to shoot on site. Brook House took the lead on 19 minutes and added a second from the penalty spot 4 minutes onto the second half, Best goal of the day was the third, a great dribble followed by a neat finish into the corner of the goal after 82 minutes.
Friendly home crowd, busy Club house, but no food on offer, a small tea hut next to the one stand. Tree lined on one side but quite open on the other with too many cheapskates willing to watch for free from the park to the side of the ground.

FA Vase Second Qualifying Round
Letchworth Garden City Eagles 5 FC Clacton 0

A groundhopper from another Forum was at this surprise scoreline:

FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round - Letchworth Garden City Eagles 5 FC Clacton 0 - Admission £3 concession - Programme £1 - Attendance 103
Needing to be in Berkshire by around 7, choices were limited but this ticked the box as for some reason, I hadn’t been to this ground in North Hertfordshire. Arrived early and got hold of one of the few programmes that seemed to have been printed and I did hear a couple of moans from others in the main stand who had missed out. Next to the ground is the towns rugby union ground and there was a match going on there today too.
So, FC Clacton were from a higher Division but, with only two draws so far, were languishing at the bottom of the Essex Senior League, LGCE hadn’t been pulling up any trees either with three wins from 10 league matches and they were 13th in the Spartan South Midlands League Division 1.
Unfortunately, LGCE is one of those grounds where the three rows of the main stand are pretty low, and despite signs telling people not to stand in front, several people did. Throw in the fact that the bloke in front of me jumped up and blocked my view early in the first half, when a home effort struck the post (I think) - it might have been saved but I couldn’t see ! From then on, I decided to stand in the back row despite feeling a little under the weather. I even had a little doze at half time.
LGCE took the lead on 26 minutes when Shay Kelly capitalised on a mistake by the visiting keeper, but struck the upright, with the ball falling kindly to Luke Baranowski to take his time before placing the ball into the net.
So, at 1-0 at the break, it was anyone’s game, but four goals in the first ten minutes of the second half killed the game off completely. 50 seconds of the second half had been played when Will Blair went on a run to the edge of the box before finding the bottom left corner. It was soon three as Blair’s shot was parried out to Olly Humphreys to net the rebound. LGCE hadn’t finished yet and when Humphreys was bundled over by Jayden Hanna, up stepped Max Smith to score from the resulting penalty with the keeper getting a hand to the ball. Blair then provided a very composed finish from 20 yards out for his second and his teams fifth. No more goals but more chances were being created, but Clacton were awarded a very soft penalty with two minutes to go when the referee adjudged that Remy Newell Barnard was clipped by Rory Gillham. To sum up their day, Luwa Luwabelwa’s penalty was pushed over the bar by Alfie Bozwold to preserve the clean sheet for the hosts.
A shock?, not really in the whole scheme of things but history for LGCE who have never reached this far in the FA Vase.

FA Vase Second Qualifying Round
Buckingham FC 0 Brook House 3

Another groundhopper from another Forum was present:

Buckingham 0-3 Brook House - FA Vase 2nd Round Qualifying
Two poor sides in this one, differentiated by Brook House's number 10, who scored a hat trick and was the best player on display by a mile.
Bright sunshine at kick off, the heavens opened about five minutes before half time, which was a shame because waiting in the wings were a group of little girls scheduled to have a half time kickabout in front of the stand as part of Buckingham's recent incorporation of a local junior and youth club. The sudden downpour didn't seem to put them off, though, and the kids received loud applause as they left the field.
The other standout moment was seeing among the spectators a very metal couple, one of whom was wearing a Christmas cardigan.
