Eynesbury United's report on their emphatic 8-0 drubbing of beleaguered United Counties League Reserve Division Yaxley FC Reserves in Saturday's Huntingdonshire FA Intermediate Cup Second Round tie. The draw for the Third Round of the competition will be made shortly:

Hunt’s Intermediate Cup - 2nd Round
Yaxley Res (0) 0 Eynesbury Utd (3) 8
The Bulls started the defence of the Hunt’s Intermediate Cup with a comprehensive win at Yaxley, after a run of three games without a win the Bulls were looking for a response and they did that in style. The Bulls were two up within seven minutes and the first goal was a classic. A great move saw a quick interchange of passes, a back-heel from Ty McLeod found Iwen Jones who slotted the ball home. With leading goal scorer Ryan Baxter unavailable Owen Meeds found himself up top and it was him that slotted the ball home from the edge of the area to make it 2-0. United then had enough chances to be ahead by double figures at half time. Sammy Routs could have had a hat trick but good goalkeeping and Timo Werner finishing saw the score remain at 2-0. Finally though the Bulls pulled further away when, just before half time, Ty McLeod finished off a great move to make it 3-0 at half time.
The second half definitely belonged to one man, the little magician, at the grand age of forty something Dean Parratt still manages to defy his age and in the second half he took Yaxley apart. However, Owen Meeds started the second half rout with a well taken second goal when he neatly finished a good move.
Archie Palmer then went all Cafu with a great run down the right, he then produced a pin point cross and Dean Parratt who slotted home. It was soon 6-0 when Parratt squared the full back up, nut megged him and then curled the ball around the keeper and into the net. And it was not long before Dean had his hat trick when he chased a ball over the top down, beat the oncoming keeper, held off a challenge and scored from the angle to complete a 18 minute hat trick.
The eighth goal was another superb goal as Brad Brown scored his first of the season when he curled a great shot over the keeper to complete the scoring. A good performance and much needed. Now the Bulls can concentrate on the huge game against Sarratt at Hall Road, however today belonged to Dean Parratt, a well deserved MoM, a joy to watch.

Eynesbury United host Hemingfords United or Eunice Huntingdon in the Quarter Finals of the competition who have yet to complete their Second Round tie, should it be Hemingfords United it will be a repeat of last season's Final, played at St Neots Town FC, when Eynesbury United lifted the trophy following a penalty shoot out.

As expected it was a difficult Huntingdonshire FA Intermediate Cup Third Round tie for Eynesbury United on Saturday against Hemingfords United, who came through their Second Round tie against Eunice Huntingdon by way of a walkover. It was a repeat of last season's Final and the tie was switched from Hall Road to the Hemingford Pavilion, despite Eynesbury United having been drawn at home, however Eynesbury United prevailed on penalties following a 2-2 stalemate, see a match report:

Hunts Intermediate Cup Quarter Finals
Hemingfords United (1) 2 Eynesbury United (2) 2 (Iwen Jones 2) Eynesbury United won 3-1 on penalties.

Cup holders Eynesbury United moved into the Semi-Finals of the Hunts Intermediate Cup with a win on penalties at Hemingfords United. Eynesbury repeated the previous years final result, when they beat Hemingfords at St Neots in the Final, and that was also on penalties.
This was always going to be a close affair, and so it proved with both sides working hard to get the upper hand. The Bulls had the first real chance when Owen Meeds latched onto a through ball, but he lifted the ball over the advancing keeper, and the ball sailed over the bar. Baxter jinked his way through the Hemingfords defence, but failed to connect with the ball when shooting. Iwen Jones got to the by-line after a great ball from Brown, but his cross flashed across the Hemingfords goal. Finally on 27 minutes a great piece of hold up play saw Iwen Jones being played in, he cut inside and drove the ball past Smith - 1-0 to the Bulls.
A vital goal, however a minute later it was all square when a ball in the box was met by the Hemingfords forward and the ball bounced into the net - 1-1.
The game became very scrappy with the game being played mainly in the middle of the park. Owen Meeds and Ryan Baxter were having a right battle with the Hemingfords centre half's, and it was Meeds who won an important battle, he squared the ball out wide to Lewis King who took on the defender, and as he went to cross, the defender clipped him, and brought him down... penalty.
Up stepped Iwen Jones who sent Dan Smith the wrong way to send the Bulls in at half time with a 2-1 lead.
The second half was more scrappy than the first and it became a war of attrition with Hemingfords upping their game. The Bulls worked hard to stifle any attacks, and Martin in the United goal was rarely troubled. The Bulls themselves were not creating anything of note, and finally Hemingfords tied the game at 2-2 when a ball into the box was not cleared and the ball was turned in at the far post - 2-2.
And that's how it finished, so the game went to penalties. Dylan Martin often the Bulls saviour was at it again when he saved the first penalty. Lewis King, Iwen Jones and Owen Meeds scored theirs, and Hemingfords then blasted their last two over the bar. Another win over Hemingfords on penalties, and a place in the Semi-Finals in January. A special mention to the Referee Richard Hart, quality as usual. On to next week when Totternhoe come to Hall Road in what should be a good battle between two sides in the top 5, kick off 2:00pm.

Eynesbury United will face either Somersham Town, Peterborough Rangers or Eaton Socon Reserves or Warboys Town in the Semi Finals of the Huntingdonshire FA Intermediate Cup, the draw should be made any time now. Should Eaton Socon Reserves come through their Third Round tie against Warboys Town next Saturday they could prove difficult opposition for Eynesbury United as they lead the Cambridgeshire County League Senior Division A having dropped just two points all season.

Eynesbury United will host Peterborough and District League Division One side Peterborough Rangers in the Semi Final of the Huntingdonshire FA Intermediate Cup on Saturday 4 January with Somersham Town entertaining the winners of the Eaton Socon Reserves v Warboys Town Quarter Final tie being played this Saturday (7 December). Not exactly 'the velvet bag' but the draw was made 'live' on-line recently if the link works:

A little premature but let's get ready to rumble, the other Semi Final tie is between Somersham Town and Warboys Town, also next Saturday (4 January):

A disappointing postponement at Hall Road this afternoon due to the icy conditions:

Today’s cup semi final against Peterborough Rangers is OFF due to a frozen pitch..the game will be rescheduled

Congratulations to Eynesbury United on reaching another Final of the Huntingdonshire FA Intermediate Cup with a 3-1 win over Peterborough and District League Division One Peterborough Rangers last night at Hall Road. See Eynesbury United's match report:

Hunt’s Intermediate Cup Semi-Final - Eynesbury Utd (2) 3 Peterborough Rangers (1) 1 (McLeod 2, King), Att: 110.
The Bulls moved into the Hunt’s Cup Final but they were made to work hard by a very good Rangers team, and had a penalty not been saved by the Bulls number one Dylan Martin it could have been a different story. The game started quickly with Owen Meeds closing the Rangers defence from the kick off, but his pass went astray. Rangers grew into the game and looked quick up top causing the Bulls defence plenty of problems, and finally on 16 minutes a great ball through the middle found the Rangers striker race clear, he composed himself, rounded Martin and scored. 0-1.
The Bulls did not take long to equalise when a great run from Arnold saw him put a cross into the box, Lewis King arrived at the far post and blasted home from a tight angle. 1-1.
And within five minutes United had turned the game around when a melee from a United corner saw Palmers shot deflect of a defender and fell to McLeod who shot home. Rangers claimed that Ty was offside, but the Lino disagreed and the Bulls were in front. 2-1.
Rangers can feel unlucky as they were the better team, but United had ridden their luck and taken the chances when they arrived.
The second half saw Rangers again come out battling but did not give Marin any issues in the Bulls goal however on 64 minutes a great ball into the box saw a Rangers forward pulled to the ground and Referee Mr Hart gave a penalty. As is common with our number one, Dylan dived to his right and made a great save.
United then introduced the little magician Dean Parratt and he made a difference, it was his ball that found Baxter who beat the defender and squared to McLeod who scored his second. Rangers then started to tire and this made the game a bit easier for the Bulls. United saw the game out and booked their place in their third final in four years. They will now play the winner of the Warboys Town and Somersham Town tie, which will be played in March.
Next up for the Bulls is a huge home league game against third place Pitstone & Ivinghoe on Saturday, 2.00pm kick off.
