Town v Slough

Recommended Posts

Best not to overreact when we win and won't be throwing my toys out of the pram when we lose.    The step up is huge when you look at last night.   We couldn't hold on to the ball for long, and when we did we did create some chances by keeping the ball on the floor.    On the flip side, their keeper mishits a clearance, and two passes later Rhys is picking the ball out of the net.   Slough had quality and speed all over the pitch and at times we really struggled to keep up with play.   As has already been stated, a high line against Slough's forward line and midfield was our downfall and the highlight for us was definitely Bernie's quality finish which left their keeper with no chance.   The 5 minutes before half time decided the game but also showed that at this level the opponents were clinical in front of goal and Rhys was by far our busiest(and best player).   I think it could have easily have been double figures without his saves.

We learn from last night, I'm sure the management team will look at what went wrong and as I said to my friend last night just staying up in this league should be our aim as the opposition are fitter, stronger, faster and also have no shortage of skill to go with it.

The step up is huge, playing against well organised and experienced teams, it will always be challenging against full time teams, especially if they have dropped down from the national conference. So us ex Isthmian lot, have a lot to learn.

Thank you for an insight for what to expect from Slough, when we go to theirs on Saturday.

Enjoy your weekend away @ Truro.

I made the mistake of looking back at roughly how many points it will take to stay up in NLS.

I'd suggest we'll need 50 from our 46 games.

I hope we don't meet teams as organised at the back as Slough every week at this level. We must have been caught offside maybe a dozen times during the game playing early forward balls with their defensive line stepping forward and midfield limiting the space to play in front of them.

Those early balls were sometimes a go-to tactic last year, maybe Marcus could have exploited it last night, who knows.

I still think we have a bedding in period for the new players and everyone getting on board with Gavin's tactics. Long way to go yet.

Also, where's Dylan? Injured or moved on? He could have switched things up a bit last night and caused a few problems.

The differences between this year and last year are that we're not going to find ourselves up against a piss-poor cheshunt team next up. Plus we've not got a 30-goal striker to do the business.

You can't can't help yourself can you 🤪
