v Enfield Town

Never been to this ground but I’m glad they have covered terraces behind both goals otherwise it’ll be an awful place to watch football. I hope they have mid to long term plans to move to a proper ground as you can’t improve this ground unless that track goes. Hoping we can take 100+ and we all pack into behind the goal, make a right racket and spur our team onto a win (must not lose!!!).

It looks like they plan to stay at the running track stadium for the foreseeable future.

They are fan owned and need to up grade the stadium to step 2 and above standard so they are crowd funding to raise 35K + government grants to re-build the main stand and move the existing seating behind the goals.

So far they've raised about £15K.

Doesn’t necessarily mean they will or want to stay there long term, that’s just what they need to do to stay at this level. It’ll certainly be one of the poorer grounds at this level and makes us appreciate what a superb home ground we have (if lacking a little character).

Have to say that the covered terrace behind the goal at Salisbury was superb.

Imagine that at AP.

Although I can’t see it happening anytime soon, yes a big terrace (concrete not metal!) with proper depth/height under a roof like at Salisbury would be awesome.

Maybe as a cheaper option we could remove the current metal terrrace from one of the stands and build concrete terracing and keep the roof (but fill in the gap at the top to keep the noise in and rain out).

Hi lads. Nothing wrong with our ground. You can get right behind the goals (unlike Hornchurch) and by the end of the season we will have a much bigger seated stand. No plans to move, no need to!

I dunno… I’d say the running track was wrong for a start! But you didn’t exactly have a bundle of ground options at the time so unfortunately it is what it is. Surely though the club must have or be liaising with your council to seek out much better opportunities even if takes years (like it did for us)?

Apart from the running track which is part of the listed building, and that we need more seats , but that is in hand. What's the issue with the ground?

How many more times! The running track is the issue, every fan would prefer it wasn’t there. Not visited yet so can’t give a detailed report but aside from the track you too by the looks of it have the same horrid metal low step stands as we do.

I don't see how it's an issue. You can get get right behind the goals? Plus it's only 6 lanes not 8. Our main stand is elevated so you can easily see the pitch from there as well? I was probably further away at Torquay last week.

Yes having those 2 stands within the track is your saving grace, sounds like Hornchurch don’t which actually puts me off attending! But of course you’d prefer the track not to be there but as I said your options were limited at the time and maybe still are? Anyway if your fans are happy with it then fair enough!

We will massively struggle to get another ground in Enfield. We do have long term plans for a new bar and training rooms for our academy. Hornchurch have 0 elevation so no decent vantage points. Be interesting to hear what you think having visited.

13 years ago we were playing on a roped-off park pitch, so I'll take the 'inconvenience' of the running track at the QE2/Dave Bryant Stadium. Much like you, I was initially skeptical about a pitch within a running track, but 6 rather than 8 lanes makes a difference and I guess you get used to it! Plenty of things to improve this season, but its home. Being fan-owned we'll never have a Sugar Daddy - plus I'm not sure it'd even be possible to build a new stadium in the borough. We're gradually getting an Enfield team back where we like to think they belong and its a pleasure to be playing the likes of Slough once again!

Have you been there before Glen? If so, fair enough with your comments about their ground.

If not, why not wait until you have visited before passing negative comments. After all,

Arbour Park has its own faults as we all know.

No first visit tonight, if they didn’t have a track I wouldn’t have commented. Be honest no fan likes a track but I did state luckily they have stands within that so it’s not all bad.

Agreed running tracks do tend to make watching a bit more difficult, however

I am sure they are grateful for what they have got considering their historic ground issues

(as we know only to well)
