Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy First Round
Stotfold Reserves v Riseley Sports (Tuesday 22 October)

Stotfold Reserves and Riseley Sports kick off the competition tomorrow evening, see an interesting preview on the First Round tie:

Match Preview: Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy 1st Round - Stotfold Football Club Reserves vs Riseley Sports. Tonight, Riseley Sports face Stotfold Reserves in the 1st Round of the Bedfordshire Senior Trophy, with a 19:45 kick-off at Stotfold’s JSJ Stadium. The winners will progress to a home tie against Biggleswade United Reserves in the Second Round. Stotfold Reserves, newly promoted after finishing second in the Bedfordshire County Premier Division last season, are currently competing in the Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 (Step 6). They sit in 14th place after 11 games, with a record of three wins, two draws, and six losses. Their most recent match was a 5-4 defeat to Moulton FC, showing they are dangerous in attack but vulnerable defensively. The last time these two sides met was in February 2024, with Stotfold Reserves securing a comfortable 3-0 win at home. Overall, Stotfold have won three of their five encounters with Sports, scoring 11 goals to Riseley’s 8. Stotfold’s top scorers this season are Charlie Robert Scott with six goals in nine appearances, Callum Lee Mullins with five in eight, and Charlie Mallett, also with five in nine games. Sports, currently 6th in the Beds County Premier, their last match postponed away to Shefford Town & Campton Reserves due to a waterlogged pitch. They were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Wootton Blue Cross in their previous outing, despite leading for most of the game. With their top scorers Alex Taylor, James Cooke, Lewis Donald and Mitch Crook all on two goals, Sports will be hoping for a collective team effort tonight. This match will be particularly special for Jordan Harris, who will make his 300th appearance for Riseley Sports, having scored 12 goals since his debut in 2012 against Potton. Congratulations to Jordan on this significant milestone! Sports will also debut their new VX3 blue and white home strip, delayed since the start of the season. The match will be officiated by Referee Matthew Wood, with Assistants Harpreet Arora and Vincent Neale. Entry fees are £6 for adults, £3 for concessions, £1 for U16s and free for U5s. A thrilling cup tie awaits, will Sports overcome Stotfold’s higher-tier status, or will the hosts prevail once again at JSJ Stadium.

Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy Second Round
Flitwick Town v The 61 FC (Luton) (kick off 2.00pm)

The 61 FC (Luton) went down 4-3 to Flitwick Town in their exciting Second Round tie last Saturday, a groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance:

Flitwick Town 4 - 3 The 61 FC (Luton) (HT 3 - 1) - Beds Senior Trophy Round 2
Beds County League Premier v Spartan South Midland Division 2, both Step 11, 2pm KO
Flitwick Community Football Centre, No admission charge or Programme, Attendance - Est HC 25, Tea £1.60
Staying close to home (again) with entering the silly season of December when multiple family commitments mean I can't get to random Away games (Exeter v Chesterfield was obviously my first choice). Plenty of parking in the attached car park, a smart clubhouse/bar/cafe. With picnic tables over looking the pitches from a slight height. The pitch is made up of 5-6 grass pitches of varying size and a new looking 3G cage the furthest from the Clubhouse. This game was played closest to the hard standing path down the right hand side of the pitch.
The game was 3 -1 up to Flitwick within 15 minutes. 61 FC put up a fight following the break, but FT managed to score again. A pleasant afternoon spent in the slowly fading light.
