Buckingham's near neighbours Winslow United having been promoted to the Premier Division, a meeting with Ampthill represents something of a local derby and an early-season opportunity to measure up against a team who, over the last few seasons, have spent most of their time on the fringes of the promotion race. In bright sunshine at Stratford Fields, Ampthill were again notably the better side, a clinical forward line scoring two goals before half time and a resolute defence rarely being tested by the home forwards in the second half.
