Harpenden Town 1 FC Romania 0 - Late, late Alfie Osborne header wins gripping FA Cup tie

An Alfie Osborne header in the eighth minute of stoppage time stunned FC Romania and sealed a place in Monday’s FA Cup first qualifying round draw after a gripping cup tie at Rothamsted Park.

After a tight first half, Harps grew into the game in the second half and created a number of great chances, including a hitting the woodwork and forcing the FC Romania keeper to make last-ditch stops.

Despite being far the more attacking side in the second period, with time running out and a replay in Cheshunt looking inevitable, Osborne was at the far post to head home a set-piece.

It sealed a piece of history for the Club, it’s the first time Harpenden have won two ties in the men’s FA Cup in a single season. Now we wait to see who we face in the next round on Saturday, August 31.

So Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, Milton Keynes Irish and Harpenden Town are the only SSML survivors through to the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, following today's draw Aylesbury Vale Dynamos play host to Bognor Regis Town, Harpenden Town host St Ives Town and 'giant killers' Milton Keynes Irish coincidentally travel to Canvey Island again:
