Finished 2nd last season losing in the play-offs to promoted Braintree.

New owner has stated that their budget has increased slightly from last season and is currently under review with the aim to go one better and achieve promotion.

But they’ve lost a lot of their best players and in my opinion not replaced them all like for like. I’d be very surprised if they finished top 5, I’d say they’ll be one of the many clubs chasing a play off place. If the new owner has any sense he’d spend his cash on a proper ground first or rip up the athletics track.

Could be why the budget is under review.

Both clubs losing quite a few players and no real idea if replacements are as good, should be an entertaining match.

It's the eve of a new season, when hopes and optimism are high, so I'm sorry to air my negative comments.
I'm not pleased to stoke up old fires, but a sentence I read this morning about the matchday information on the club website for the match tomorrow against Chelmsford has, let's say, irked me.
Irked me a lot.
I have probably bored you all with my complaints previously  about season tickets going "digital".
Sorry.
Today, the matchday information for "Admission and tickets" on the club website for tomorrow's game says in its final sentence....
" Another option for members and ticket holders is to print off their QR code and present this for scanning ,if a smartphone is not available."
Am I reading this correctly ?
If I'm not, I'm sure some of you good folk on here will tell me so, but that sentence says to me that you could have bought a season ticket, printed something off at home to show at the turnstile and that a smartphone is NOT required.
Would it have been too difficult or awkward to have put that on the details about season tickets when they came out month's ago ?
I sent the club an email less than 24 hours after these season ticket details were announced, saying that I had wanted to buy a season ticket but that I didn't have a smartphone and refused to pay 7 pound extra for a physical card.
I specifically asked the club in my email would I be able to buy a season  ticket and then print something off at home to show at the turnstiles, but their response was that

"digital was the only option".

After being told  this I refused to pay extra for a physical season ticket card, and as I don't have a smartphone I did not get a season ticket.
Yet now it seems that they are announcing that  a printing at home version is available ?
Really ?
Are you kidding me ?
If I have got this wrong then I will apologise straight away, but as I see things at this moment in time  I feel very aggrieved at what looks to me  a very inept way that  the club has dealt with this new method of selling season tickets.
Very aggrieved.

.

Hello HR, season ticket gate rumbles on 😅

When I ordered my S/T I did a print out of the QR code as a fail safe measure just in case I couldn't get it to work on my smart phone.

Whether this was an option for supporters when buying the ticket or just my decision I can't remember.

But as you say if you were told that 'digital was the only option' and now told a printed version is ok must be a bit galling for you.

The view on the Chelmsford forum is not generally optimistic as Glen said a lot of their quality has departed and their forum bemoans the fact that most of their replacements are from at least a level lower  Bit like ourselves really I'm hopeful that our home advantage will see us through and I'm sure Scott will have reminded the squad of the long unbeaten home record we want to continue!

Holyport Rebel are you going tomorrow I like many other supporters have received an email to claim 2 free tickets.

Let me know ASAP and i will print one off for you.

I believe this is your membership benefit of free tickets for the season, not just a one-off offer of free tickets.

I realised that.

As Holyport Rebel has not been happy with the season ticket situation I wanted to make sure he turned up for the game and get him in with the complimentary ticket as you say I am entitled to for the season.

Looking forward to this as a starting game and am quietly confident of getting a result against I'm sure a decent (but IMO not as good as last year) Chelmsford set up. I think the squad Scott has assembled looks very adaptable to various situations and has plenty of options to change things if required.

Looking forward to 3 points to start the season and already be better off than we were last season.

Rubbish first half, excellent 2nd half, talk about a game of 2 halves! I guess with a few new players in the starting 11 it was not unusual it took a while to get into any rhythm. Luckily we kept the goals conceded to just the one as it could have been 2 or 3. My MotM was Lexus, he was a rock and hardly put a foot or head wrong. Also special praise for Slavi for his 2 goals including an excellent winner plus Ufuah who I thought caused no end of problems in his brief stint. All in all great to start with a win and extend our amazing home record.
