Pitstone & Ivinghoe haven't been the same team since their third place finish in 2021/22 when losing only four League games under Danny Greany's stewardship:

Had some great teams over the years.

Pitstone & Ivinghoe you mean, well not so much recently, and since being sadly 'banished' to Division Two due to the lack of floodlights, but in 2000/01 and 2002/03 they won the SSML Division One Championship under different Managers, Ian Magill and Sean Downey respectively, which were 'heady times for the Club, they also lifted the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup under Magill in 2000/01.

Yes, some good teams in the 80’s I think and certainly late 90’s also had a very good team for a couple of years with players playing well below their level.

I assume 'you know who' will be in attendance at Forde Park this afternoon, it will be interesting to know why he 'defected' from Letchworth Garden City Eagles:

Division Two
Stony Stratford Town 8 The 61 FC (Luton) 0

A groundhopper from another Forum witnessed this rout:

Stony Stratford Town 8-0 The 61FC (Luton) Spartan South Midlands League Division 2
I watch a fairly large amount of football at this sort of level (Step 7) and on this, the opening day of the season, The 61 were the poorest side I can remember seeing. They gave off the air of being a scratch team, perhaps not aided by the fact that the fellow who keeps the club going more or less through force of will currently seems also to be in the role of manager. It was one of those matches in which the keeper of the team that gets hammered is nevertheless actually their best player; certainly The 61 were utterly absent as an attacking entity.
Other point of interest - the gent in the shades was wearing a Falkland Islands shirt.

Division Two
Padbury Village 1 Codicote 0

A groundhopper from another Forum was at this affair:

Spartan South Midlands Division 2 Padbury Village 1-0 Codicote F&N. attendance 40 (hc)
With needing to stay relatively local this afternoon, it made sense to tick off one of the remaining two clubs needed in the Division. Padbury are new to the level, having been promoted from the North Bucks League.
On paper, this looked like a strong candidate for an away win, with Codicote having finished 4th last season (believe they applied for promotion too, only to finish behind AFC Welwyn), and they started the strongest, having a few chances that went close, and a goal ruled out. Padbury then went ahead on 25 minutes against the run of play, and then won a penalty about 5 minutes from half time. This was smashed against the post by the scorer of the first goal.
In the second half, Codicote seemed determined to turn the game around, but were very wasteful with their finishing. I can only really recall one save the keeper had to make, with most other efforts clearing the target. Padbury had chances of their own but were also similarly wasteful. However, they held on with a determined defensive effort and opened their Step 7 campaign with an important victory.
All in all, a much better game than the scoreline suggests.
A relatively basic step 7 ground in a playing field, with temporary railings (like Club's such as Aston Clinton), but a decent Club building and plenty of benches from which to watch the game from. A nice day out and a pleasant venue.
