Plaques from the seated stand

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what will be done with the sponsored seats from the stand that is being moved?  It would be nice for the club to retain this little piece of history from our early days.  Shannon still remembers her plaque in the wheelchair section.

Fom the latest Members newsletter.
Stadium Improvements
For those who were not present at our members meeting last month, the members present voted unanimously for the option of a new 400-seater stand on the north side of the ground. The seats in the current stand would be removed and the stands re-sited behind each goal, thereby improving the covered standing available. The intention is that the new stand will also have a TV gantry and wheelchair spaces. We also require three additional turnstiles. The option currently favoured is to add one to the existing block then a double unit at the rugby club (Ladysmith Road) end of the stadium. Both will require some realignment of the existing fencing.

We have grant funding that will contribute up to 70% for the new stand and 50% to the turnstiles. We are currently reviewing quotes to consider the best option. The club has funds ring-fenced to help meet the costs, but we shall be starting a Crowdfunding campaign very shortly to help the project to completion. Please look out for a further announcement. However before we are able to undertake any work planning permission is needed. We have met with the Council’s planning department and last week, on their advice, we submitted outline sketches of our intentions and currently await their response.

Glad that the scheme will increase capacity behind the goals. Gets very uncomfortable in there when the crowd his 1000 or more The sight lines will still be terrible but a step in the right direction. Ideally bigger steeper stands behind the goals would be much more preferable ,but that is for another day.

On the club’s website the issue of what happens to an existing seat that has a name plaque was covered in the FAQs. It said that people who have a seat with a name plaque in the current stand would be contacted with options .

i am one of those people but living in Australia means that I will have to rely on being contacted. My information channels are more limited. I have renewed my membership so the club has my details. Hopefully I will hear what my options are.

I am considering one last visit to my hometown but it won’t be until next year. I have renewed my UK passport but at 81 years my health will be the major determinant.

Can’t the club buy some of the terracing Cheshunt installed coz they ain’t gunna need it now……

Not much point when you're only gonna be needing it for one season yourselves. 🤣 The work doesn't need doing until end of next march anyway and you'll be as good as relegated then , so I'd hold fire and save yourselves some money if I was you lot. 😊

On a semi jovial note, maybe there should be a National League South temporary stand that can be loaned to clubs that get promoted, and given back to be reallocated if they get relegated 🤦‍♂️

I would think those sponsored seats would be put into the new stand .  Strangely enough I wandered over there about an hour or so before the Kingstonian match looking at the names  . Some of those people are no longer with us  . It would be a crime if those plaques were not repurposed onto new seats . The opportunity to put more plaques on the other new seats maybe could be introduced again by our B O D ..
