This was a comfortable win for Leverstock Green, recently promoted to Step 4 via last season's play-offs against a willing but limited Baldock side who actually took the lead on 17 minutes only to find themselves behind just eight minutes later. From that point it was a stroll for the hosts who scored a third on the hour and probably should have had more with better finishing. Leverstock's ground is basic for Step 4, a 100 seat kit stand on half way with the clubhouse opposite providing an overhang with a few bench seats as well as changing rooms and a tea bar where the usual hot food was available at rather expensive prices (we stuck to an admittedly decent tea at £1.80). A small car park behind one goal was full well before kick off but there is plenty of street parking nearby.
Pre-match refreshments were courtesy of the Full House, the local Hemel Hempstead 'Spoons - New River Isle of Rye being the highlight - before parking up at the ground and walking for a couple of quick halves in the Leather Bottle (an old haunt on Northwich Vics away days some 40 years ago) and the Green Man. Home in just under 3 hours despite endless M1 roadworks.
