v Chertsey

This will be our stiffest test so far in pre season and should give us a good indication on how we are progressing.

Chertsey are now at step 3 having won their division with 100 points, scoring 103 goals and only losing once all season.

We need a tougher test as the first 4 possibly BMF excepted, have been very comfortable. Hopefully some decisions will be made soon regarding trialists and any other targets so there’s time to ‘bed in’ everyone.

This is as tough as it will get during pre season.

Ideally we needed to keep stepping up the quality of opponent culminating in playing a step 1 or 2 opponent to really see where we stand.

So far we've played teams at step 4 and 5 winning easily except against BMF who are at step 4.

Going by what Scott said in his last interview I expect tomorrow will be the last game where we will see so many if any trialists on show.

As predicted this was a tough encounter against a good Chertsey side who are on a high following their promotion.

Unfortunately our squad on the day, which included 6 trialists, failed to match the intensity and effort the Chertsey players put into the game.

Looking at the trialists I would say the only players who can take some credit from the game was the second half left back/wing back along with Alfie Pendlebury who again showed glimpses of his ability, whether he'll eventually prove good enough for this level is any ones guess.

Wasn't able to make yesterday's game but the 2 trialists mentioned above are the 2 I would love us to sign to complete the squad.

Obviously I don't know the left back/wing backs name but he does look familiar.

As for Alfie Pendlebury it's a shame he hasn't played more games for us in pre season to get a better idea if he would fit in and be good enough for step 2 football.

As it stands I think it would be a shot in the dark if we were to sign him.
