I find the bottom table really insightful.......

Clear the Boreham Wood will be up there keeping much of the squad which only just got relegated and was competitive in seasons past.... How big is Dorkings squad???

Chelmsford & Hampton have big turnarounds so potential they will drop.....

The two teams currently with the biggest squads are Dorking with 24 which is no surprise and Chesham with 22 which is a surprise.

The clubs with the smallest published squads at present are:

Hornchurch 0 - Welling 3 -  St Albans 7 - Torquay 8 - Chelmsford 10 and Maidstone/Farnborough 11

Going by those figures it looks like Hornchurch are just not issuing any details.

As previously mentioned, this is from a club secretary.

July is when player registrations can be formerly submitted. Every season we see clubs at this time saying they have retained players or signed new ones. When registration officially opens they are often embarrassed because players sign for some other club, despite what they may say now. Sensible clubs announce these things when they can actually sign players on. Not before.

But these forms are near to useless as it only gives you 7 days protection/notice!!!

As said, some clubs say they've signed a player when in fact they only have a player committing for the season.

But on the other hand they could be factually correct if they've actually signed the player on a contract.

Committing is obviously not binding but I would say only a tiny % of players actually change their minds after committing to a club.

Thank you for the note about the Hornchurch retentions - have largely been using Twitter/X for announcements so anything not on there will have been missed! Also, embarrassingly, saw David Ogbonna wasn't listed on the retained list for Slough as he was committed nice and early, so have added him as well.

Pretty sure Oggy has signed a contract.

Hornchurch announced yesterday 12th June, Darren mcQueen from ebbsfleet. Mason Terry on loan from West Ham, Angelo Balenta from Boreham Wood and Jazzi Barnam-Bobb from Chelmsford.

Don't know anything about the other three but Darren McQueen should be a good signing for Hornchurch. Wish Slough had him. Haven't seen him play for awhile but a couple of seasons ago he was a real handful for opposition defences.

On paper those 4 players don't read as cheap signings.

Maybe Reading Rebel knows what the Hornchurch budget is?

McQueen is a good player on his day.

In the two games against Ebssfleet in the FA Cup he didn't do a lot.

On his day he's unstoppable other times he's a bit anonymous.

Mason Terry is on the books at West Ham under 23's, he was on loan @ Concord Rangers last season, where I saw him a couple of times, an excellent young keeper.

A weeks worth of movement, but a bit quieter now this week with just 20 player movements in that time.

The weeks movements involving NLS clubs as per the below - only what has been announced via club accounts at the time of writing.

Hornchurch, Dorking and Chesham (the latter with 1 more to come also) leading on potential squad sizes. Good luck with the budget and keeping all those players happy!

Most seasoned NLS clubs seem more pragmatic. Welling, however, running very thin at the moment.

I think it's difficult keeping a track of squad numbers when I doubt all relevant info is published via SM by the individual clubs. I've just checked a few websites and the number of players each club states it has is somewhat different to the spreadsheet e.g. Bath (22 v 13),Welling (13 v 7), Worthing (20 v 14), St Albans (26 v 12), Salisbury (19 v 13) etc.

This assumes of course that the various websites are up to date which given the level of football we're at, hopefully they should be.
