Don’t understand why we didn’t bring in the striker we need. Gavin must have been the only person who thought we could keep Marcus last summer.  There should be a long list of hungry players we’ve seen who want to step up.

They may already be established at other clubs now.

Guessing that he is considered surplus to requirements now that all our other midfielders are now fit? Still think this is a bit brutal, but that's football I suppose.

All the best Scott, will miss your leadership, all the last ditch tackles, your unfussy style of play, and of course all the goals (might be lying about that last bit. .)

We have signed Adam Thompson - Defender with over 200 appearances in the EFL, most noticeably for Southend. What a great signing, what we needed with his experience and his defensive talent.

I wonder if he can play tomorrow

I agree, will add the organisation along with the skill and experience to our back line. Things are on the up. Next, we need an experienced midfielder and top striker. Wonder if Adam can encourage a couple of ex team mates to help us out 👍 Bring it on tomorrow!

An experienced midfielder and a top striker who is hungry to prove himself in this league and we could be looking at this team totally different! Easier said then done of course but this is an amazing start and a big confidence boost for our backline if he can play tomorrow.

Also, yeah his contacts could be massive in leading a few of his own teammates or friends to come and play for us! Let’s hope. COYT

Was curious where Adam had been playing this season. He was loaned out at B****t last season and part of the side that lost in the play-offs. His contract with Leyton Orient came to an end on 31 May and he appears to have been without a club since then. It sounds as if he had some kind of surgery for an injury over the summer and has been seeking a new club since then. He certainly fits the profile of player Gavin would've liked to sign and I'm not complaining, but wonder why he's had to drop down to the basement of NLS? Anyway, hoping he can do the business!

Interesting interview from May - most relevant part from 1hr 08m 50s.

Seems like a top guy! And yeah by the sounds of it, probably a procedure that he had to do and some clubs in NL/League Two didn’t want to take a chance on him after that which hopefully is their loss and our win. It’s hard not to get excited over this transfer as he comes with bags of experience, who was a great defender for many years in the EFL.

Hopefully he’s all ready and fit enough to be registered in our squad and able to play tomorrow but where does this leave Benjamin and our new loanee Cox? Unless he’s going to a back 5 I don’t know how it will work

I hope a back 3 of Thompson, Cox and Benjamin could work well. Parcell and Mills could have the freedom and go as wing backs to help defence and midfield...could work
