SSML Projections - 2024/25

Recommended Posts

Members will recall 'SSML Projections' threads for the last four campaigns so lets continue the trend for 2024/25. There's, as usual, a lengthy thread on another Forum on the subject including coverage of the SSML Projections for Steps Five and Six, the links below are examples only of how the Premier Division and Division One might look next term as well as all the other League's:

I gather three Club's in Division Two have applied for promotion to Step 6 level, AFC Welwyn, Codicote and New Bradwell St Peter, however it's looking like only AFC Welwyn and Codicote will finish in the required top 5 at the end of the season and New Bradwell St Peter will just miss out despite having a number of games in hand, I assume that criteria still applies:

A very disappointing 2-1 defeat for New Bradwell St Peter at Totternhoe's Dunstable Road home on Tuesday evening with two League fixtures remaining, at home to Sarratt this evening (2 May) and at home to Caddington AFC on Tuesday 7 May. As a result of last night's failure to gain three points. it is now impossible for the Club to reach 'the promised land' of the top five positions in order to qualify for their applied promotion to Step 6 leaving just AFC Welwyn and Codicote's 'hats in the ring'.

It's laughable in a way isn't it how the Projections change 'every five minutes' and when the play-off's have yet to be completed, why not just wait until the completion of the play-off's, for Division One on Saturday and the Premier Division on Monday. Here we suddenly find Winslow United in the Premier Division next season and with Newport Pagnell Town now appearing in the United Counties League Premier Division South, as do Northampton Sileby Rangers:

A revised Projection for the SSML Premier Division next season following Leverstock Green's surprise success in the Play-Off Final yesterday as well as Winslow United's success in the Division One Play-Off Final on Saturday. The Football Association (FA) have today (Friday 17 May) released their Official allocations for the 2024/25 campaign:

National League System Step 1-6 allocations for 2024-25 season (thefa.com)

Constitutions 2024-2025 - Google Sheets

We can now confirm the National League System (NLS) club allocations for Steps 1-6. The allocations follow the completion of the recent league play-offs at Steps 1 to 6 of the NLS. These allocations are subject to appeals and any amendments to these will be confirmed in due course. We would like to thank everyone involved, from volunteers to Club's and League's across the National League System for their hard work during the 2023-24 season and wish everyone the best of luck for next season. The full list of club allocations for the 2024-25 season covering Steps 1-6 can be downloaded below.

It's a fond farewell to Northampton ON Chenecks and Northampton Sileby Rangers, the latter who have still somehow managed to get themselves promoted to Step 5 despite losing the Division One play-off Final to Winslow United:

Northampton Sileby Rangers FC - Strange one in a sense but it’s been confirmed we will be back playing Step 5 next season. We look forward to being back part of the United Counties League. Also like to thank the Spartan South Midlands League for having us, we’ve really enjoyed our time and a big thanks to all behind the scenes.

What is the position with the Regional Feeder League Applications, as they are formally known, there is some debate about it on another Forum, it appears only AFC Welwyn have been promoted from Division Two:

I haven't scrolled through all 10 pages to check to see if anyone else has commented on them, but I can't believe New Bradwell St Peter have applied. I was there on Tuesday and it is very basic. A small 2 bench stand and pitch is railed off, but it is in the middle of a recreation ground with no way of preventing anyone just wondering up pitchside. Admittedly they have got floodlights but as the ref told me at half time, they are too tall and NBSP have been told they need to be lowered before they get permission to use them, hence the 6:30 KO on Tuesday.
Irrelevant now as they can't catch the other applicant Codicote, but it wasn't at the time they applied.
All that being said, Codicote is a similar set up to NBSP but they had floodlights on wheels when I went there a few seasons ago. And someone was taking a fee as you entered the car park near the pavilion.

Sorry to do a Julie Andrews and the Sound of Music folks but 'so long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye, I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye, goodbye'. Farewell to Real Bedford and Leverstock Green who join a high number of former SSML Club's in the Southern League Division One Central next season:

Sorry to do another Julie Andrews and the Sound of Music but 'so long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu, adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu'. Farewell to Sawbridgeworth Town and Stansted who return to the Essex Senior League after just one season in the SSML, both Club's were like 'ducks out of water' weren't they in the SSML and should never have been forced to leave the Essex Senior League in the first place despite strong appeals from both Club's:

A nice graphic, produced by Colney Heath, of the eighteen Club's participating in the SSML Premier Division next season, strangely only the SSML Premier Division and the Midland League Premier Division, across Step 5 level, have just eighteen Club's:

I see that Burton Park Wanderers have unfortunately been relegated to Step 7 level and will compete in the Northamptonshire Combination League Premier Division. I gather, similar to the SSML Division Two, the top five Club's are eligible for promotion to Step 6 so hopefully the Club can bounce straight back next season:

Thank you for the great matches we had, also the many local games we will miss out on.
