Chelmsford v Slough

Recommended Posts

It sounded like we were the better side on the day coming away with a well deserved point in the end.

Not scoring when the chances came our way again very nearly put paid to us even getting a point.

This point has almost certainly scuppered any chance of Chelmsford catching Yeovil for the title.

A decent point in itself against a side sitting 2nd in the table, but it took Chelmsford to go down to 9 men for us to get back into the game. We realistically needed all three to maintain even the slenderest of hopes of gate-crashing the play-offs.

We've won only 6 away league games so far this season: Weston-Super-Mare, Dartford, Aveley, Bath City, Torquay United and Tonbridge Angels; we'll need to do better on the road next season. We've got another difficult game away vs Taunton on Thursday, they desperately need the points whereas we've nothing but pride to play for. We can now look to next season.

Holyport Rebel wasn't at the game so no entertaining read from him this week!

Just to say that the Wind Tunnel or Melbourne Park as it's more familiarly known, provided us with the scenario of disappearing footballs into the nether regions of Essex and overtime work fetching and carrying footballs for the many ball boys stationed around the pitch.

Did anybody count the number of bookings in the match? Someone suggested that Chelmsford's fines total for that match would be £2000!! The penalty won by Nathan Minhas should have produced a red card (last man), obviously the rules have changed! Think we had, one maybe two yellows. It wasn't a nasty game by the way!

To sum up the game from my biased viewpoint, I thought we handled the conditions better than they did and deserved our point, but should have had three. How their goalie got up and turned the ball off Trae's head after it had ballooned up from Scott's initial shot I'll never know. I notice he's in the Team of the Day in the Non League Paper.

Yet another game we should have won. Interestingly we've taken points from all of the top sides. Sorry Chelmsford, not sure you've got what it takes for promotion, but good luck in the play offs. I won't miss having to visit your ground for a while!

Sorry Bernie !

Like Dan Lincoln, I had a prior arrangement ! 😄

I was hoping the game was going to be a boring 0-0 draw.

Seems it was anything but.

Flippin' typical !

Read somewhere Chelmsford had six players carded…. 4 with yellows & two with reds. I think that many in one match is usually punished with a sizeable fine.

Can't remember when you last missed a game before Saturday HR! I understand Dan was in a somewhat exotic location, but I hope you enjoyed your prior arrangement.

Bernie, people have different priorities in life.

For me, Saturday was a very special day, and I had to go and see the person that my wife calls " the other woman " in my life.

Last Saturday night was exactly 50 years since  ABBA won Eurovision, so the best thing that I could do on such a special occasion was to go to see the Abba Voyage show in London.

Seen that show three times now.

If you're an Abba fan it's brilliant, but could never be as good as when I saw them ( and especially Agnetha) live in the flesh on Friday November 9th 1979 at Wembley Arena !

I'll never forget that night !!!!!!!!!!!!
