Slough v Bath

Recommended Posts

Weymouth v Yeovil abandoned around 75 mins due to a medical incident in the Yeovil away crowd with air ambulance landing on pitch.

Weymouth were goal up at the time.

Will be interesting to see how the league deal with this compared to the Bath game.

No doubt it’ll be different rules for different clubs! I’m just astounded and disgusted that we are still waiting an outcome for our abandoned game, are they hoping we just forget about it? It should never take this long to sort out, but history tells us we shouldn’t be surprised.

They're probably waiting to see if the outcome of the result would mean anything to either club, that is to say if either club need the three points. If neither club do, then whatever outcome won't upset either club. If we're awarded the win Bath will undoubtedly cry blue murder as they're going fore the play-offs, whereas a replayed would have meant we did the same (at the time, but will mean little to us now).

Just like the Southern League did 10 years ago with the game abandoned at Banbury United in September, where they waited until April to decide it should be replayed, as Banbury were fighting relegation and therefore needed the points.

I reckon you're right Nathan.

If they award the points to us and Bath needed the points they would kick up a right stink with threats of law suits flying about.

Good spot Rebellier.

Down below is how it appears on the F.A Disciplinary page that I looked at after your comment.

INCIDENT OF MISCONDUCT – NON-STANDARD CASE
Jerry Gill, Manager, Bath City FC

Slough Town FC v Bath City FC
National League South
2 March 2024

Breach of FA Rule E3.1 – It is alleged that during and following the suspension of play in the fixture, his conduct was improper.

Mr Gill denies the Charge and elects a Paper Hearing.

To make this stick we must have independent witnesses i.e. ref and his assistants or an assessor to corroborate our side of the story.

'Paper hearing'? does that mean reports from both clubs rather than in person?

Obviously all relative to the level but when I asked for a hearing on two separate occasions several years ago the B&B and FA had numerous statements, interview notes and eye witness accounts/in person and set them all out in diagrams and on a screen pitch to show their case so I'd imagine they wouldn't have charged Gill/Bath if they didn't think they had enough.(They really don't like losing)

I won my first one but they hammered me for my second, no way was I ever going to get one over them again I guess and ended up banned for 118 days.

Hopefully all will be in our favour.

Then again to plead not guilty Gill must be confident he has a case and can win.

I don't know about Mr Gill feeling "confident" about his case and thinks he can win RR.

Surely if you have any opportunity to quash a charge  that is levelled against you, you would take it, if you feel you have any sort of defence for your actions ?

You could be right HR but hopefully if found guilty he and the club will face a harsher punishment for wasting every ones time and money.

Two weeks until the regular season ends, and the outcome of the decision on what happens with this match will very likely determine if Bath are in the play-offs or not.

Does anyone know if or when a decision is likely to be made?
